  • Players can blend their armor pieces together using the dyes in Baldur's Gate 3 to create a visually cohesive outfit, despite the game lacking a glamour system.
  • The game's itemization is one of its highlights, as powerful and intriguing items can be found in various sections of the game, offering players exciting discoveries throughout their adventures.

Larian Studios has made plenty of amazing items in Baldur's Gate 3, and among them, one player couldn't help but showcase a strangely strong shield with a surprisingly silly name. The homebrew content in Baldur's Gate 3 boasts plenty of formidable gear, such as the Potent Robe or the Helldusk Armor, and fans have enjoyed decking out their Baldur's Gate 3 companions (as well as the player character) in the best possible equipment they could come across.

Though the game lacks a glamour system, the dyes in Baldur's Gate 3 have sufficiently allowed players to near-seamlessly blend their armor pieces into a visually cohesive outfit. A particularly striking set that players could obtain early on were the Adamantine items in Baldur's Gate 3, found during the game's first Act in the Underdark. Part of the reason why the itemization is so exciting in Larian's blockbuster title is that powerful and intriguing items can be discovered in pretty much any section of the game, from the abandoned ruins along the shores of the starter zone, to the nooks and crannies of the Lower City.

Unfortunately, the shield shared by YouarethisIlikethat on the Baldur's Gate 3 subreddit only becomes available after reaching the latter half of the game. Hilariously (yet aptly) named as the Shield of Shielding, it's a formidable shield with a +2 Armor Class that offers a free cast of the Shield spell. It can be found by players in a chest marked as "Offerings to Helm" in the basement of the Stormshore Tabernacle. While Viconia's Walking Fortress or Shield of the Undevout may be better options overall, the Shield of Shielding's simple benefit can be useful for shedding damage from a particularly gnarly foe.

Given that Lae'zel and Karlach in Baldur's Gate 3 both naturally gravitate towards Two-Handed Weapons, players will likely prioritize shields for their own class (if it happens to be proficient) or for Shadowheart, pairing it with something like the Mace of Lanthander or her own iconic spear earned over the course of the game's second Act in the Gauntlet of Shar. As a Level 1 spell, Shield becomes a very formidable tool for Wizards after gaining more spell slots, but having it available on Fighters or Clerics is a bonus worth considering.

While players have largely enjoyed their adventures on the Sword Coast, Larian has heard the criticism levied against the game's closing hours, and has introduced another massive Baldur's Gate 3 patch that seeks to address some of these issues. The developer has certainly shown that a lot of love and care went into creating Baldur's Gate 3, as Larian has worked to perfect a sequel that is worthy of its predecessor's immense legacy.

Baldur's Gate 3 is available on PC, with a PS5 version coming on September 6, and an Xbox Series X/S version expected to launch in late 2023.
