According to developer Larian Studios, fans have already spent over 1,000 years adventuring in the world of Baldur's Gate 3. While it's been in early access for some time, the new RPG just officially launched and gamers have dived in with a passion. Baldur's Gate 3 is undoubtedly a major success, thanks to its phenomenal story, interesting characters, and loads of things to do and secrets to uncover.

All of this content is certainly keeping players busy at the moment. Larian has explained that Baldur's Gate 3 requires up to 18 playthroughs to see everything with one character and, it seems, some fans may be shooting for that goal. Some gamers have practically been playing around the clock since last weekend and, as a community, they have wracked up some significant statistics.

Larian Studios has just tweeted out a series of interesting stats about the game since its official launch, showing that, combined, fans have played Baldur's Gate 3 for over 1,225 years. The developer specifically highlighted this bit of data in the message, clearly proud of the achievement and what it says about the game and the players. Perhaps more interesting, however, is the fact that, with all those hours played, only 368 people have finished the story so far.

Among the other intriguing or surprising stats released by Larian is the fact that 88 of those years of gameplay was just fans creating characters. The lovable dog Scratch, meanwhile, has been pet over 750,000 times and nearly 100,000 gamers have tried and failed to romance Astarion. Scratch is undoubtedly a good boy, and figuring out how to romance Astarion in Baldur's Gate 3 isn't easy, so these numbers aren't shocking. Still, lots of fans are finding it cool to see it all presented to them in a single set of graphs.

All of this speaks to the incredible success of the new entry in the Baldur's Gate series. The sheer amount of content and the passion the game has generated mean that fans will likely be driving these numbers even higher this weekend. Thankfully, a new mod that makes exploration easier in Baldur's Gate 3 has recently released which should, hopefully, help a few more players cross the finish line and bump up the number of fans that have finished the campaign.

Baldur's Gate 3 is close to being the highest rated PC game ever, and gamers are clearly getting as much as they can out of it. Just how much the statistics will increase with the second weekend after launch remains to be seen. Still, just the data so far is a remarkable achievement for Larian, and it's no wonder it's touting it.

Baldur's Gate 3 is available now on PC and will release for PS5 on September 6. An Xbox Series X/S version is also in development.
