According to a recent leak, Baldur's Gate 3 is releasing on Xbox Series X/S on December 6, putting the release a little over a month away. This report comes days after Larian CEO Swen Vincke confirmed that Baldur's Gate 3's Xbox version was proceeding swimmingly and still on track for the year.

For those unfamiliar, Baldur's Gate 3 was released on PC back in August and PS5 in September. Reportedly due to feature parity issues with the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, the Xbox version was never given a release date, although BG3 has been in development as a multiplatform title since day one. After working with Xbox to affirm certain elements, Baldur's Gate 3 was confirmed to be released on Xbox this year, though missing a feature or two on the Xbox Series S.

Of course, many fans have been skeptical about this given that the year, at the time, was quickly winding down, and the end is currently in sight. However, according to a recent leak by Exputer, the game is still on track for a December 6 release date. Exputer cites anonymous sources within Larian Studios and also points out that their contacts emphasized it was an expected release date. In other words, if the ongoing Xbox Series X/S playtesting of BG3 turns up any critical issues, a delay is not off the table. If there is an issue, it's not impossible that Baldur's Gate 3 is internally delayed later into December or into early 2024, but given the nature of this leak, as with all leaks, fans should take it with a grain of salt.

Either way, Baldur's Gate 3 has been highly praised and was perhaps a sleeper hit for some. For example, it was previously revealed that Microsoft thought it could snag Baldur's Gate 3 for Xbox Game Pass rather cheap, but that's certainly not the case now. It is considered a Game of the Year contender by many and a Game of the Decade title for some.

While fans should wait and see what Larian has to say about Baldur's Gate 3 on Xbox, as a December 6 release date would naturally mean a proper announcement relatively soon, it's worth noting that Larian is still hard at work adding to and improving the title. Baldur's Gate 3 recently released Patch 4, and its contents have sent waves through the fandom. With its length, many may not have even beaten the title yet, but one has to think that BG3 DLC is at least being discussed as well.
