Most of the time, treasure hunters in Baldur's Gate 3 will be looking for gold, armor, weapons, and artifacts. Self-interest is a compelling motivation, even for characters that are looking out for the world around them. Protecting the innocent is easier to do with proper funding and equipment.

After saving the characters from the burning building, players can take Benryn's quest and find his wife's dowry. However, it should be noted that this dowry can be found without the quest. Players may have accidentally picked it up and sold it before rescuing him.

After finding Miri and seeing what happened to her, players may be moved to give the dowry back to Benryn. But this is purely done out of the goodness of the character's heart. The ring is worth 115 gold which is a pretty decent chunk of wealth. Good-aligned character may feel like giving it away for role-playing purposes but others will find themselves with a bit more cash.

The Gilded Chest the dowry is in can also be picked up and sold. Players can give the entire chest back to Benryn but there is no advantage to this, even morally, so go ahead and keep the chest and sell it without any guilt.

Baldur's Gate 3 is available in Early Access on PC and will be available on August 3rd, 2023. The PlayStation 5 version will be available on September 6th, 2023. A version for Xbox Series X/S is still in development.
