As players try to cure their parasite by various means in Baldur's Gate 3, it should come as no surprise that many of those most willing to help are among the most shady figures. Only dark paths even know what it is and those who do know are often in league with the powers that created them.

One of the most immediately suspicious in Omeluum, a Mind Flayer who says he has escaped his connection with the Mother Brain. Of course, this could easily be a lie.

Baldur's Gate 3: Should You Spare Ketheric Thorm?

Baldur's Gate 3's Ketheric Thorm is a complex villain, but is it worth asking him to stand down?

Updated on April 21, 2024, by Nahda Nabiilah: Players might find it hard to believe, but it is possible to encounter non-evil Mind Flayers in Baldur's Gate 3. While exploring the Myconid Colony in the Underdark, you will meet Blurg, who will later on introduce you to a fellow researcher named Omeluum. The latter is a Mind Flayer who promises Tav a possible cure if he is provided with the correct ingredients to craft a potion. After that, players must choose whether they will trust Omeluum and drink the potion he prepared.

This article divulges consequences within the game and reveals information the player's character may not know. Players committed to role-playing may wish to stop reading and find these things out for themselves.

Should You Trust Omeluum?

Baldur's Gate 3 Inviting Omeluum Into The Mind
  • It is highly recommended to trust Omeluum.
  • There are no negative consequences of letting Omeluum try his cure.
  • Players will gain the Ring of Mind-Shielding by allowing Omeluum to try his cure.

Omeluum is a genuinely good-aligned character and understands what it is like to be controlled mentally. For this reason, players may want to get to the Underdark and meet him toward the earlier part of the campaign. He's one of the major figures to speak to when trying to get a cure done.

If players are leveling up as fast as possible, he asks for some ingredients to make a potion that will be on the way. Once collected, return to him and drink his potion. The parasite will squirm around but do no lasting damage. While Omeluum, like so many others, fails to cure the parasite issue, there is no harm in him trying this. He provides a Ring of Mind-Shielding to help prevent the parasite from squirming around any further. It provides an advantage against being charmed, which is situationally pretty useful.
