The beauty of a game like Baldur's Gate 3 is often discovered in changing the world in numerous ways. The Druids are performing a ceremony that, when completed, will close off Druid Grove to outsiders forever. This affects the Tieflings and refugees but also impacts the player.

This ritual requires a Sacred Idol that stands in the middle of the chanting Druids. Baldur's Gate 3 allows players to disrupt this ritual by stealing the Sacred Idol of Silvanus from the Druids. The child who makes this request, Mol, may not understand how drastically this move alters the game. Players might not know either when they swipe the statue.

This article divulges consequences within the game and reveals information the player's character may not know. Gamers committed to role-playing may wish to stop reading and find these things out for themselves.

What Happens When Stealing The Sacred Idol

  • The Druid Grove and its guards become hostile toward the player.
  • The character will permanently gain the 'Enemy of Justice' debuff, provoking enemies to attack.
  • Sazza (the Goblin), Nettie, and Kagha will both die.
  • The Tieflings and Druids will fight, resulting in potential NPC deaths on both sides.
  • Related quests will automatically fail.
  • The team will gain a huge amount of experience and loot.
  • Druid Haslan remains friendly.

There are many consequences here but not all of them are bad. While some might choose to break Sazza out, none of the three major characters killed are good. The rest of the Druids may be more ambiguous to kill but they are doing something fairly evil by sealing off Druid Grove. Strictly good characters should still stop the ritual but not by stealing the Sacred Idol. The entire enclave will attack on sight going forward aside from Druid Haslin.

The experience and loot here is game-changing two different vendors will likely die in the combat and can be looted for every item in their store. The experience gained from winning this battle is massive. When playing with friends, let them all know what's about to happen because the fight is one of the largest in the game.

Baldur's Gate 3 is available in Early Access on PC and will be available on August 3rd, 2023. The PlayStation 5 version will be available on September 6th, 2023. A version for Xbox Series X/S is still in development.
