Making decisions with limited information is an exciting part of Baldur's Gate 3. The "right" answer is often found better by a coin toss. But sometimes feelings and incomplete information can lead to disaster. And being in the middle of the Creche is a place where players do not want to have a messy disaster.

But being cautious is often the wrong choice. Missing out on treasures or splashy plotlines can feel even worse than simply guessing incorrectly. When players get this invitation from the children to check out the Traveler's Chest at the Creche in Baldur's Gate 3, the decision will need to weigh both the risk and the reward.

Baldur's Gate 3 players may want to kill Abdirak the moment they meet him, but there is a good reason to keep him alive.

Updated on April 21, 2024, by Nahda Nabiilah: The Creche is a big area that has its own space in the Mountain Pass. A couple of crucial choices will be triggered at the Creche, so players need to stay alert and choose carefully. However, you will also encounter not-so important choices that don't affect the gameplay. For example, upon entering the infirmary, there will be two young Githyanki tossing a Traveler's Chest that seems to contain some sort of creature, and you will have the option to free it or not.

This article divulges consequences within the game and reveals information the player's character may not know. Players committed to role-playing may wish to stop reading and find these things out for themselves.

Should You Open The Traveler's Chest In The Creche?

Baldur's Gate 3 Looting The Gremishka In The Creche
  • Recommended: Open the chest
    • A gremishka, a small cat-like creature, will immediately attack.
    • The cat is easily defeated.
    • A gremishka tail (alchemical ingredient) and necklace can be looted from the body.

Intentionally unleashing enemies is often a good way to level up fast, but this pitiful creature inside hardly yields any experience or challenge. It does, however, give some useful ingredients once looted. For this reason, it's recommended to open the Traveler's Chest, just to see this small incident through.

Of course, it's also possible to simply allow this creature to be tormented by the children for the remainder of the game, but it feels more compassionate to end its suffering now. Unfortunately, there is no way to save the bullied gremishka. It starts out hostile and will aggravate everyone in the room once released. The best party composition should still account for potentially non-violent solutions, but there isn't a good solution here.
