Players who want to build up friendships among their companions in Baldur's Gate 3 will find that it's quite a process. Without a gift-giving system, making companions happy often means giving them what they want without much hassle. But sometimes the request goes a bit far.
To be fair, Astarion doesn't even want to ask, he hopes to take what he needs in Baldur's Gate 3. But when players catch him in the act, they have to decide how much they trust their vampire friend. Astarion does need blood to live but can he stop himself from taking too much?

Offering Blood To Astarion
- Recommended: Let Astarion drink blood and kill the character
- Stopping Astarion early will give the player a one-day debuff
- Astarion gets a buff the day after drinking blood
- Players can also kill Astarion or make him leave during this interaction
Although death is rarely recommended, fixing this death is rather easy. If players answered Withers' question, he'll be in camp, just have an ally with 200 gold resurrect the main character. In this way, players can get two approval points from Astarion and avoid the debuff. Gamers who stop Astarion early will get a -1 debuff to attack rolls and ability checks for the next day.
So long as Astarion drinks any blood at all, he'll get the inverse, a +1 buff to attack rolls and ability checks for one day. Switch party members and use him until the next long rest to make good use of this.
Those who don't like Astarion can banish him from the group or kill him. This is a permanent decision that both good and evil-aligned characters might be tempted to take. Astarion is pretty committed to evil based on what he approves of though his background does make him a sympathetic figure.
