Players may have already met Araj Oblodra in Act 2 when she asked for some blood in exchange for a potion. If the protagonist agrees, she would offer to drink the Mysterious Potion in Act 3, but it is recommended not to rush into it. Although she has always given useful potions before, in Baldur's Gate 3 unknown potions often have both positive and negative effects. This guide is intended to help players decide whether to drink Mysterious Potion, as it is unsuitable for many characters.

Baldur’s Gate 3: Should You Give Araj Oblodra Your Blood?

In Act 3, Baldur's Gate 3 players will find Araj Oblodra in Crimson Draughts at coordinates X:-76; Y:-88. As mentioned above, Araj will only offer players to drink the Mysterious Potion if they agree to give her their blood in Act 2, so if they do not, th story will be unavailable to them.

Also, if Astarion bit Araj in Act 2, and he is in the party, they will have an interesting dialogue. When the party approaches Araj, the house will explode and catch fire. She will say that this is because of a potion made from the blood of the protagonists. When players follow her into the house, she will give Mysterious Potion after a short conversation.

At this point, players should save if they plan to drink the Mysterious Potion, as it has a passive effect that may not be useful for all characters and in all situations. This effect is called Unstable Blood, and it causes the blood of the character who drinks the potion to become flammable and explode when exposed to fire.

After the character drinks this potion, everything within a few meters will explode and catch fire. After that, in a conversation with Araj, she will be genuinely pleased with the results of her research and that the protagonist has made such an important contribution to science. However, players who act as moralists should not cooperate with her as she conducts experiments on people.

Unstable Blood can be dangerous because it can set fire to both party members and peaceful NPCs, which can sometimes ruin the playthrough. But at the same time, this passive effect can be very useful if the potion is drunk by a melee character who wears armor with immunity to fire damage. A good choice would be Helldusk Armour and Cindermoth Cloak, as together they can protect against fire and deal additional fire damage to enemies around them.
