Baldur's Gate 3 is all about succeeding in your dice rolls.

The player gets to pick between a vast multitude of classes and subclasses. Players might want to try out one of these classes as not only are they powerful in combat, but they are also extremely fun to use with their unique features and abilities.

6 Druid

A Druid as a Healer

“Druids channel the elemental forces of nature and share a deep kinship with animals. Mastery of Wild Shape allows them to transform into beasts from all over the Realms.”

The Druid is undoubtedly a fun class to use as it allows the character with this class to transform into an animal of choice, such as a cat, a badger, a wolf, a spider, a panther, or an Owlbear. The Owlbear is especially overpowered. These wild shapes can be used both inside and outside battle.

With them having access to Druid Spells, they can get many powerful spells, such as Sunbeam, which does a lot of damage and blinds the hit enemy. Another overpowered spell is Hold Person, which is a must-have.

5 Warlock

Baldur's Gate 3 Human As A Warlock In Character Creation

“Bound by a pact to an all-powerful patron, warlocks trade their loyalty for supernatural abilities and unique magic.”

Warlock’s powers don’t stem from themselves, unlike other classes. It comes from whatever entity they made a pact with. Warlocks can both be useful as utility and as damage dealers. With Pact of the Chain, they can gain the servitude of a familiar who can turn invisible, who they can then use to accomplish whatever is needed around the map, risk-free.

Warlocks can get access to one of the very best cantrips in the game, Eldritch Blast. This will allow them to do some very hard-hitting.

4 Fighter

A Halfling Fighter in Baldur's Gate 3

“Fighters have mastered the art of combat, wielding weapons with unmatched skill and wearing armour like a second skin.”

Fighters, at their base, are a straightforward class. They use their strength to get through fights. Their most notable abilities are Action Surge, allowing them to get an extra attack, and Second Wind, a self-healing bonus action. The fun comes especially with its subclasses.

Baldur's Gate 3: Elf Race Best Build

The Elf is an iconic race in Dungeons & Dragons that is worth using in Baldur's Gate 3.

Battle Masters will allow the player to perform many interesting attacks, such as attacks that let them disarm their opponents. Meanwhile, Champions have an easier time landing critical hits and Eldritch Knight lets players make use of spells.

3 Paladin

A Paladin Character

“Fuelled by the Oaths you swore to uphold justice and righteousness, you are a beacon of hope in dark times”

The Paladin is one of the most beloved Baldur’s Gate 3 classes, and for good reasons. Besides having powerful attacks, the Paladin also has great healing abilities, such as Lay On Hands, which takes away negative status effects, like Bloodless, for example.

Its subclasses make it stand out even more, specifically Oath Breaker, which the player can only access by committing certain actions during their playthrough, depending on their original choice of Oath, that will break their Oath. This will also grant them access to an overpowered feature, Divine Smite.

2 Barbarian

A Barbarian character

“The strong embrace the wild that hides inside - keen instincts, primal physicality, and most of all, an unbridled, unquenchable rage.”

One of the best ways to create an overpowered character that can power through every situation is definitely the Barbarian. With so much strength to show, the player will be able to intimidate their way through most dialogue options.

This class will allow the player to even throw other characters around. The most fun out of its subclasses when it comes to that is the Berserker.

1 Bard

Baldur's Gate 3 Bard Playing Music

“You know music is more than a fancy - it is power. Through study and adventure, you have mastered song, speech, and the magic within.”

Poets whose primary ability is charisma, Bards are a beloved Baldur’s Gate 3 class. This class is best described as a jack of all trades that can do anything, from casting spells to fighting melee. It is just as good a support class as a heavy-hitting one.

With the high Charisma this class has, the player is sure to run into interesting dialogue options. And, most importantly, carrying an instrument the player can play at any time, even during battle, makes it the most fun class this game has to offer.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is now available to play on PC and PlayStation 5.
