Knowing when to split your party could make fights easier in Baldur's Gate 3.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has a huge array of status effects that can hit the players and while some are good, some others can cause issues for the players. It’s essential that the player learns how to remove unwanted status effects as they can hinder their gameplay and make it harder.

What Is The Bloodless Status Effect?

The Bloodless status effect is a debuff a character can be afflicted with that causes some of their dice rolls to have a -1. These dice rolls include rolls for saving throws, ability checks, and attacks, which pretty much include dice rolls the player will have to use all the time. This can be a massive disadvantage while playing, but it also comes with a positive.

This status effect is inflected on players if they allow Astarion, a vampire, to feast on their blood. While Bloodless is not great to have, it also boosts Astarion - giving him the Happy status effect.

This will grant him +1 to his dice rolls, including dice rolls that affect saving throws, ability checks, and attacks. So it is a trade-off that players should consider when playing if Astarion is one of their favorite characters to use in battle. If not, the player should remove the status as soon as possible.

How To Remove The Bloodless Status Effect

While it does have its advantage, most players probably do not wish to stay indefinitely under the Bloodless status effect. To remove this debuff, the player has a few options.

The easiest way to remove Bloodless, which most players surely have access to, is a Long Rest, as a short rest will not work to remove this. This will, however, take many resources away from the player and cause Astarion’s Happy status to also be removed.

A better option is to make use of certain actions to remove it. An example is Lay of Hands, an action unlocked by Paladins that will remove Bloodless.

Another option is the Lesser Restoration Spell, which Shadowheart, a Cleric and the main healer the player probably has access to should have if she is over level 3.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is available on PC and PlayStation 5.
