The game grants the player a lot of freedom with its gameplay, from the initial character customization to how the player can tackle each challenge the game throws at them. One very helpful character to deal with the obstacles in the game is an NPC named Withers and all players should keep an eye out for him.

Who Is Withers And How Is He Important

Withers is a skeletal mage in Baldur's Gate 3

Withers is a mysterious character that players will find very useful as they get through Baldur’s Gate 3. This odd skeleton man will stay in the players' camp after they find him and grant them access to some interesting options.

Firstly, and probably most interestingly, he can let the player use Respec. This allows the player to basically reset a character. The player can modify or completely change their character that they designed at the beginning of the game. This is amazing for any player displeased with their character or who wants to try out other builds. He will ask for 100 gold from the player to do this.

If the player wants to custom-make other party members, Withers has them covered. He will allow the player to recruit Hirelings. His cost for this is also 100 gold.

Finally, Withers can also revive fallen comrades, costing the player 200 gold to get this service.

How to Get Withers

In Baldur’s Gate 3, there are two ways to get access to Withers.

The easiest way is to simply wait until he comes to the player camp himself. This will usually happen after the player has made some progress in the main story. When he spawns there, all the player has to do is talk to him and he will make himself available, in exchange for gold.

If the player wants to get access to Withers sooner and not have to wait around, it’s possible to go and find him. Withers will be found in the depth of the Dank Crypt. Entering the Dank Crypt and reaching him might not be the easiest mission, but with a few allies, it is definitely doable. The player will have to get past some treasure hunters and other hostile enemies, and avoid traps along the way. Once the player reaches Withers, he will start appearing in their camp.

Baldur's Gate 3 is available to play on PC and PlayStation 5.
