Persuading beings in Baldur's Gate 3 is a common occurrence. One of the game's strengths is that there are many ways to do this, offering Persuasion, Intimidation, Insight, or other checks that can communicate with the entity in question.

But the Druids have animal friends that they create as equals in Baldur's Gate 3, which means they are permitted to be themselves. One of these animals, Topaz, is a bird who has built a nest out of gold coins and a key. The nest is fine without them so the player may want to pocket these items for themselves.

How To Loot Topaz's Nest

Baldur's Gate 3 Topaz And His Golden Nest

  2. Loot the nest when Topaz faces away.

The simplest way to loot the nest is to enter Stealth. While hiding, wait for Topaz to turn around, then steal the desired items from the nest. To be on the safe side, save the game before doing this since it is regarded as a theft and will provoke not only Topaz but all of the other Druids in the Sacred Pool.

This can also be done by magic users who have the Speak with Animals spell and then a following Deception or Intimidation check. When playing with friends, have the party member with the best of these skills try the encounter. If it fails, go ahead and go with the Stealth strategy that any party can pull off.

If players get the key, look above and spot the Shiny Chest that it goes to on top of a stone pillar. Like with Topaz, there are a few ways to get to the Shiny Chest. Do know that if everything fails with Topaz, this lock is relatively easy to pick open, so looting the nest is not critically important.

Baldur's Gate 3 is available in Early Access on PC and will be available on August 3rd, 2023. The PlayStation 5 version will be available on September 6th, 2023. A version for Xbox Series X/S is still in development.
