When players enter the character creator for the first time in Baldur's Gate 3 it can be an overwhelming feeling. Aside from race and class, gamers are tasked with customizing a look. Some gamers might be interested in playing right away so they randomize a look or go with the default appearance.

Others may think they like the way their character appears but be unhappy with the way the hair looks in the middle of a cutscene. Baldur's Gate 3 empowers players in so many ways but after hours of searching, is there really no way to change haircuts in the game?

  • There is currently no way to change hair or physical appearance in Baldur's Gate 3.
  • Players can change their helmet, hat, and armor options to hide the hair partially or fully.

Unfortunately, as of this writing, there is not a way to change hairstyles in the game. This will be certainly fixed either by the developers or modders in the near future. But consider this a warning to those who are still crafting their characters; make this decision very carefully.

Gamers that are truly repulsed by the hair but do not want to completely start over will want to change clothing and headwear to disguise the style. Thankfully, there is a way to toggle for helmets to appear even in casual conversation and this will do the job of hiding the hair, presuming the helmet or hat worn is large enough.

This does leave the issue of the sex scenes and other instances when the character automatically removes the hat. Hopefully, this is an issue that gets resolved soon as playing a game the size of this one with a bad hairstyle can legitimately make the journey feel less rewarding.

Baldur's Gate 3 is available now for PC. The PlayStation 5 version will be available on September 6th, 2023. A version for Xbox Series X/S is still in development.
