If you visit the Rosymorn Monastery at the end of Act 1 in Baldur's Gate 3, you can get the legendary Blood of Lathander, but you will face a strong enemy on your way, the Guardian Of Faith. Although this creature is quite a tricky and powerful opponent, you must defeat it if you want to get the ceremonial items needed to access the Blood of Lathander.

BG3: How To Beat The Guardian Of Faith

Guardian Of Faith in BG3

As a Construct, the Guardian Of Faith won't attack you until you or one of your companions is within the glowing golden circle that marks the creature's danger zone, or provokes it with an attack. In addition, you should also keep in mind that when you try to pick up Ceremonial Battleaxe, you will also trigger Guardian. However, fortunately for you, this creature takes damage when it makes an attack, which can play in your favor. So, the best way to deal with the Guardian Of Faith in Rosymorn Monastery is to deal damage to it from a distance. Let's talk more about the ways you can do that:

  • Foremost, the most obvious way to beat the Guardian Of Faith is to use any type of weapon or spell that deals ranged damage. These can be throwable items, ranged magic spells, as well as bows or crossbows. This way, you can significantly damage the Guardian, while keeping your companions at a safe enough distance so that he cannot attack them. However, the downside of this option is that you miss out on the opportunity for the Guardian Of Faith to self-damage, as it won't make any attacks.
  • The second way is related to Guardian Of Faith losing HP as a result of attacks or counterattacks. For example, you can use a tank if you have one in your party that is strong enough to survive all the Guardian's attacks. Send a character into the Guardian Of Faith's zone to deal melee damage to the enemy, forcing it to deal additional damage to itself.
  • Alternatively, you can use the Guardian Of Faith's self-damage mechanic by summoning and sending minions to it. This way, for each attack the creature makes, it will deal 20 Radiant damage to itself, so you'll simply have to keep sending your minions toward it until it's finished.
