From the owlbear to Cazador, Honour mode in BG3 offers up some truly punishing battles.

However, if players are struggling with ideas for their next adventure in Faerun and want to try something truly unique, the following are some fun BG3 playthrough ideas that gamers are sure to enjoy. While some of these are aimed at players heading out alone, others are best enjoyed with friends in co-op mode.

5 Four Barbarian Halflings

Toss Each Other Into Battle

Popularized by the YouTuber Okoii, one of the most hilarious Baldur's Gate 3 playthroughs gamers can attempt is to party up with friends and make four Halfling Barbarians. What makes this work is that Barbarians are not only strong and thus able to throw heavier objects, but they also have access to Enraged Throw, which is a Bonus Action and deals additional damage.

What makes this an especially fun playthrough idea is that each of these Halfling Barbarians will be able to toss one another into foes, as they, along with Gnomes, don't weigh much. While the thrown friend will unfortunately be knocked prone, the enemy will at the least be pushed back, possibly taking a fair amount of damage as a result. Other nuances of playing as Barbarians also make this experience fun, as they are known for approaching problems in rather straightforward ways, such as just ripping a door off instead of worrying about how to unlock it.

4 Respec All Origin Characters Into Bards To Make A Band

Each Character Has Unique Recorded Vicious Mockery Lines

Playing as a Bard in Baldur's Gate 3 is already fun, but what's even more fun is recruiting the origin characters and turning them all into Bards to create one happy band. While players might struggle when it comes to combat, and although the diversity of Bard subclasses can help with fights, this playthrough is more about having a literal blast.

Baldur's Gate 3: 5 Best Tiefling Characters, Ranked

Tieflings face a lot of hardships and persecution in Baldur's Gate 3, but there is no shortage of amazing characters in their ranks.

All members of the band will have unique Bard dialogue options, which make conversations more fun, and every member can strike up a tune at any point to distract guards while the rest steal something of worth. However, the highlight of changing origin characters into Bards is listening with glee to all of their Vicious Mockery lines. Astarion's lines, in particular, are a real treat, and many believe that he suits being a Bard even more than a Rogue.

3 A Pacifist Challenge Playthrough

Try To Beat The Game Without Dealing Any Direct Damage

While combat is exceedingly fun in Baldur's Gate 3 thanks to an abundance of creative spells and actions, trying to avoid hurting anyone as a pacifist can be just as enjoyable if not more. There are many ways to engage with this challenge, such as sneaking around to bypass enemies entirely or by talking to them and convincing them a fight is not needed.

How strict players want to be is up to them. The simplest method would be to have a pacifist main character who buffs up their allies, allowing them to do the nasty work instead. More daring players can take this further, though, attempting to beat the game as a lone wolf pacifist. To do so, gamers will have to be incredibly creative and ask themselves if 'gently' pushing a Goblin is still considered pacifism, even if they accidentally fall off a cliff.

2 Recreate Part Of The Fellowship Of The Ring With Friends

Create Gandalf, Gimli, Legolas, Frodo, Or Any Other Iconic Lord Of The Rings Characters

The Fellowship of the Ring mod for Baldur's Gate 3

The worlds of Lord of the Rings and Baldur's Gate 3 are fairly similar, and the latter's party and camp system can at times remind players of the nine adventurers who made up the Fellowship of the Ring. Thanks to the variety of races and classes available, a group of four friends could each create a member of the Fellowship, with Halflings, Humans, Elves, and Dwarves as available options.

Giving characters a second class can improve roleplaying in addition to giving them added combat abilities.

Fans of Tolkien's books could then have fun seeing how their favorite characters, such as Gandalf and Legolas, would fare in Faerun with tadpoles in their head. As BG3 is one of many games with Lord of the Rings mods, players even have a few options to enhance this experience with one mod that adds Anduril and The One Ring, as well as the Fellowship of the Ring mod, which expands the party beyond four and comes with all characters already created.

1 Play Almost All Of The Game As An Animal With Animal Companions

Become A Druid Beastmaster

A polar bear and a cat walking together in Baldur's Gate 3

By being at least a Level 2 Circle of the Moon Druid and thus gaining access to Wild Shape before leveling up the Ranger class to become a Beastmaster, players will be able to turn into animals and have animal companions. The idea here is to spend as much of the game as possible in animal form, which will result in some very funny interactions and dialogues with other animals throughout the game, all of whom have their own recorded voice lines.

This playthrough idea will work if players decide to play alone or with friends. That said, there is something amusing about the idea of four bears lumbering around while having fun together, especially during some of Baldur's Gate 3's more serious moments. Alternatively, players could adopt the Owlbear cub and then transform into Owlbears to become its new family.
