Baldur’s Gate 3 has been crowned game of the year and for good reasons. The game has displayed some incredible gameplay that captivated players old and new to the franchise.

Baldur's Gate 3: Best Lae'zel Build

Lae'zel is a powerful companion that players would do well to use at her full potential.

One of the best parts of the game is the companions the player can meet and fight alongside. These are interesting characters and, naturally, many players might be wondering how old their companions are, as these small details can easily be missed or simply never mentioned.

Most of these are estimated from the game and are not exact figures.

Lae'zel

Baldurs Gate 3 What To Do After Beating Game New Playthrough Laezel

Lae'zel will be the very first companion the players will meet in the game, specifically during its prologue, and will be of great help to the player after she gets officially recruited.

Out of the companions of the player, Lae'zel might just be the youngest one out of the bunch, in human years, at least.

Lae'zel’s age is estimated to be around 20 years old in human years, however, as a Githyanki, she spent time in the Astral Plans. Time is absent in the Astral planes so everything remains eternal there.

Shadowheart

Shadowheart is another companion the player will have a chance to meet on the ship during the prologue, though she can be missed as she is stuck in a pod.

Despite looking quite young, Shadowheart is actually around 40 years old. She keeps her youthfulness, thanks to being a Half-Elf, which matures her body slower than humans.

Astarion

Astarion agrees to avenge those taken like him

As quite a chaotic character, Astarion has been able to captivate many players from the get-go. He can be recruited early on next to where the players wash up after the crash.

Astarion is a character who the player can get a very accurate age of, thanks to the existence of his grave. When he died, he was 39 years old. However, he has been a vampire for about 200 years. With that in mind, it can be concluded that Astarion is over 239 years old.

As an Elf, he can live to be over 700 years old too. However, it’s possible that him dying at 39 might be a mistake, as for Elves that would mean a child.

Gale

Gale in Baldur's Gate 3

Gale is a powerful wizard that the player will meet after their crash on the beach in Act 1. He can be saved from a waypoint and recruited as a companion.

Gale should be around the age of 40. This can be assumed by firstly his looks, which show a more mature face compared to other characters. Since he is a human he will age normally.

Gale was also quite an amazing Wizard even before meeting Mystra, which would definitely take some time, even for a prodigy. Gale has one of the more uncertain ages among the companions.

Wyll

A close up of Wyll the Warlock in Baldur's Gate 3

Wyll is one of the origin characters of the game who can be met in Act 1. The player will have to defeat a horde of goblins to defend the Emerald Grove in order for Wyll to join the player.

Baldur’s Gate 3: Race Politics Guide

Races in BG3 have a lot of relevance to the story and understanding them can help players out tremendously.

Wyll is 24 years old. This can be assumed thanks to the fact he has mentioned that he made his pact when he was 17 years old. And it’s known that the pact was 7 years ago. So by this logic, his age is confirmed to be 24. He also looks his age, as he is a human and ages like one would expect, looking like someone in their 20s.

Karlach

karlach-baldurs-gate-3

Karlach is one of the later additions to the player in Act 1, being found at the end of the Risen Road. She is quite powerful and will be a huge asset to any player if spared.

One thing we know about Karlach is that she was in Avernus for 10 years. When she went there, she should have been around the age of 20, or in her late teens. With that in mind, it can be assumed she is around the age of 30. Tieflings age pretty similarly to humans overall, but live to be a bit older.

Halsin

BG3: Halsin

Halsin Druids who the player can save in Act 1 in the Shattered Sanctum. Saving the Druids and the Tieflings in Act 1 can lead to the possibility of him being recruited in Act 2.

Halsin is one of the few characters that outright confirms his age to the player. During a camp talk, he will reveal to the player that he is 350 years old, making him quite old. However, for an Elf, that is quite a realistic age as they can live up to very old age, around 700 years.

Minthara

Minthara in Baldur's Gate 3

Minthara is a character that can turn out to be a powerful enemy to the player. However, if desired, the player has the option to recruit her in Act 2, if she survives Act 1.

Minthara is the hardest when it comes to figuring out her age. She is a Drow, which is a race that ages similarly to Elves. This means it’s hard to determine her age from how she looks, as she could be quite old.

One thing to note about Minthara is that she does not have many accomplishments, which could point to her being younger than what some would expect. Overall, the player can assume that Minthara is at least about 100 years old.

Jaheira

Jaheira as a Druid

Jaheira is a character the player will only meet starting Act 2. Recruiting her will not be the easiest task, but if the player doesn’t have Halsin, she can come in handy.

Jaheira is a character that existed prior to Baldur’s Gate 3. She was first introduced in Baldur’s Gate 2, which took place over 100 years before the events of BG3. This on its own can let players conclude that she is over 100 years old.

Jaheira mentions that during the year 1347, she was a child, which was about 146 years ago. With that, it’s concluded that she should be around 150 years old. As a Half-Elf, that’s a completely reasonable estimate.

Minsc

baldurs-gate-3-minsc-face

Fans of BG2 will be glad for the return of this nostalgic character. In Act 3, Minsc can be recruited if some requirements are met. He arrives quite late in the game, which can be a bummer, but the opportunity to recruit him is relished by the fans nonetheless.

Minsc is another tricky one to determine the age of. He was present in Baldur’s Gate 2, which took place over 100 years before BG3. However, he was petrified for around 70 years, stopping his aging.

In 1368, he was a young man, which means he was at the very least over 55 when he was petrified. He was released from his petrification 12 years before the events of BG3. So, this would put his age at at least 67. However he is a human, and does not look 67, so it’s uncertain whether this is accurate or not, or if he has some way to look younger despite his old age.
