A quality weapon or chest piece is great, but when it comes to RPGs, sometimes a small piece of gear can make a difference to character customization. When it comes to the finer details in games like Baldur's Gate 3, it's easy to overlook smaller pieces of equipment like amulets, but they can make the difference in a tough fight or risky dice roll.

Act 2 of Baldur's Gate 3 has a few valuable pieces of jewelry hidden in obscure places throughout places like the ruins of Reithwin Town or the crumbling caves underneath Last Light Inn. Don't miss these handy neck pieces and amulets to give characters an extra boost against their foes.

8 The Sentient Amulet

The Adamantine Forge in Baldur's Gate 3

The Sentient Amulet is something the player finds in a locked chest near the Adamantine Forge. They can wear it if they want, although they should be aware of the curse it carries. Finding the amulet prompts a cinematic with a ghostly monk who can't seem to stop laughing and afflicts the player with a similar affliction.

This starts a quest called "Help The Cursed Monk" which leads to a monastery in Wyrm's Crossing that the player can find near the beginning of Act 3. As part of completing the quest, the player can pass some dice rolls and get the amulet without the curse, which grants them the ability to cast the spell Tasha's Hideous Laughter.

7 Surgeon's Subjugation Amulet

This amulet can be found in the Houses of Healing in what's left of Reithwin, which isn't a surprise considering the name. Players who defeat Malus Thorm, either by using conventional means or talking him into being the subject of his sordid torture methods, can loot it from his corpse.

The Surgeon's Subjugation Amulet is designed to give adventurers of any kind an advantage when fighting humanoids. When a character wearing this amulet makes a critical hit on a humanoid target, they have to chance to Paralyze their quarry for two turns.

6 Fireheart

Speaking of the Thorm family, the Fireheart amulet vast spoils that players can access once they defeat Gerringothe Thorm. Like her relatives, players can either talk her into suicide or fight her, and after looting the chests in the Seized Inventory section, they'll find this amulet.

Fireheart gives the wearer two turns of the Heat condition when they take fire damage from another creature. The character takes 1d4 fire damage per turn but they gain Heat Convergence, which allows them to deal fire damage as well as take it.

5 Shar's Temptation

The dark goddess that's worshipped by Shadowheart specializes in deception and trickery, so naturally an amulet with Shar's name on it would give the wearer the ability to cast Charm Person. It's a Level 1 spell that only works on humanoids, and is one of the basic spells casters can use for crowd control.

It seems like this would be something players would find in the Gauntlet of Shar but it's actually in an unlocked crate in the Houses of Healing. The amulet is only of an Uncommon quality, but it's still worth keeping for a handy spell.

4 Frost Prince

Jaheira companion in Baldur's Gate 3

Players building a frost or elemental-based spellcaster shouldn't leave Act 2 without finding this amulet, which gives the wearer the ability to cast Ice Knife. This is a level one Conjuration spell that throws a shard of ice at the target that deals 1d10 of damage when it hits and then explodes to deal 2d6 more and create an icy surface.

This amulet is easily found in Lost Light Inn provided the main character succeeds in a Perception check that reveals a couple of loose boards. A closer inspection will result in finding the Frost Prince hidden under the floor.

A Very Rare amulet with one of the best and most sought-after benefits in all role-playing games, the Spellcrux Amulet is intended to be used by a Wizard. It gives them the ability to restore spell slots using the ability Arcane Recovery, which means spells that are two levels below their present class.

The Warden drops this handy amulet, and she's one of the NPCs guarding the entrance to Moonrise Towers. She typically stands by the big inner doors with a crossbow, behind the front lines, on the top of the stairs.

2 Hammergrim Mist Amulet

Baldurs Gate 3 Oliver

The Ruined Battlefield is located in an obscure corner of the Underdark that some players miss. This is also the location of a mysterious young NPC named Oliver who likes to play hide and seek, a hint to those adventurers who might be looking for a similar wayward child, Thaniel.

When not playing games with Oliver, it's a good idea to search through this area thoroughly for helpful or valuable gear. The Hammergrim Mist Amulet can be found in one of the many chests littering the area, and it gives the wearer the ability to cast Fog Cloud, a useful level 1 Conjuration spell that strikes any character in it Blind and Heavily Obscured.

1 Strange Tendril Amulet

Anything that gives the wearer an extra spellcasting ability is a plus, and one that offers a spell of this power is even better. Evard's Black Tentacles is a level 4 Conjuration spell that causes a bunch of tentacles to sprout from the ground. It smothers any creature caught in it, and does 3d6 Bludgeoning damage, and any character wearing this amulet can cast it.

The morgue of the Healing House is filled with poison traps and vents, but once past them, it's possible to loot this necklace off a corpse just behind the wall. It's a Rare item worth about 200 gold, so if the party already has enough Wizards and Warlocks, it's a decent resale item.

Baldur's Gate 3 is available on PC and PlayStation 5. An Xbox Series X/S version is in the works.
