This is how to best sneak up on and surprise your enemies in Baldur's Gate 3.

There, the player will be faced with numerous enemies before they can make their escape. One of the enemies present there is Commander Zhalk, who might be worth the effort to defeat.

Who is Commander Zhalk and Where to Find Him

Commander Zhalk is an enemy encountered in the Nautiloid Ship, at the very beginning of the game. When the player progresses throughout the entire prologue, they will find him fighting against the Mind Flayer.

He’s a Cambion devil who wields one of the best weapons in the game, the Everburn Blade.

Commanding Zhalk to drop his sword in Baldur's Gate 3

Commander Zhalk is extremely powerful, and at this point in the game, the player could never hope to defeat him if they didn’t have the help of the Mind Flayer. The player is not supposed to fight him, but his sword is worth taking.

It’s extremely risky to fight him but the reward – the Everburn Blade, is definitely worth it. This blade is a two-handed sword that gives an extra +2d4 fire damage. It’s definitely worth having in Act 1.

Before Fighting Commander Zhalk

Before fighting Commander Zhalk, the player should do two things:

- First off, the player should remove the brain found on the ship. The player will need either good strength or dexterity to successfully do this. If successful, this brain known as Us will become a temporary companion.

- Secondly, the player must also rescue Shadowheart as she will be somewhat useful when taking down Commander Zhalk as well. The more allies, the better the chances.

How To Defeat Commander Zhalk In Baldur's Gate 3

Now that it’s time to fight Commander Zhalk, the player should not worry about him attacking them as he will be solely focused on the Mind Flayer.

The player, Lae’zel, and Us can help chip off his health bar. Shadowheart can cast Armor of Faith on the Mind Flayer as he will be the biggest hitter.

Once that is done, the player should keep her as close as possible to the console to trigger it the second Zhalk is defeated.

The player should try defeating Zhalk before the Cambions reach them, as they are extremely powerful.

With that, the player can take the sword and trigger the console for a swift escape.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is now available to play on PC and PlayStation 5.
