Baldur's Gate 3: Every Intelligence Skill, Ranked

Baldur's Gate 3 rewards players for gathering and using information, and there is no better way to do so than through Intelligence Skills.

Baldur's Gate 3 demonstrates the magic found in DnD, with players able to select from various classes that provide such abilities. Of these, the wizard is arguably the most obvious, with their command over the Weave. Pertaining to a DnD campaign, players will find various items to help them, with any such items to bolster intelligence being crucial for such magical builds since they use it for their spellcasting. Items found that provide bonuses to or with intelligence will be incredibly valuable and can lead to powerful magical builds.

5 The Pointy Hat

Grants A Bonus To Persuasion Checks Based On The User's Intelligence Modifier

  • Found in a chest in the Circus of the Last Days behind Lucretious.

Dialogue is an important part of Baldur's Gate 3, with many crucial moments involving it. Some classes are naturally better at maneuvering dialogue than others, with wizards not having as much proficiency in it.

The Pointy Hat grants some fluency in engaging in dialogue, giving a bonus to persuasion checks equal to the user's intelligence modifier. Given that wizards are one of the main classes that use intelligence, wearing this hat can be a useful choice for certain dialogue-heavy portions of the game.

4 Infernal Rapier

Uses The Spellcasting Modifier For Attack Rolls

  • Given via dialogue in Wyll's quest inside the Mind Flayer Colony.

While intelligence is mostly associated with wizards given they are the main class to use it, other subclasses additionally utilize it. Eldritch Knights and Arcane Trickster Rogue scale with intelligence for their spellcasting.

Baldur's Gate 3: Best One-Handed Weapons

If players want a better chance at fighting off the hordes of the Absolut in Baldur's Gate 3, then seek out these one-handed weapons.

Wizards are unable to wield the Infernal Rapier, given it is a rapier and not a staff, but Eldritch Knights and Arcane Trickster Rogues do have the proficiency required. As such, this weapon can be useful for those classes given it uses the spellcasting modifier for attack rolls, and since they also scale with intelligence, it can be a worthwhile item.

3 Warped Headband Of Intellect

Increases Intelligence To 17

  • Drops from Lump the Enlightened in the Blighted Village.

Ways of increasing any stats are naturally going to be valuable items for players to achieve. However, the Warped Headband of Intellect is not as useful on wizards due to the class already possessing a high intelligence score.

The Warped Headband of Intellect can be valuable for any other classes requiring a boost in intelligence, especially Eldritch Knight and Arcane Trickster, given they also require other stats for their builds. As intelligence increases the likelihood of hitting an enemy with a spell, the Warped Headband of Intellect can be a strong early acquisition for these classes.

2 Mirror Of Loss

Increases Any Ability By +2

Baldur's Gate 3: How to Find and Use the Mirror Of Loss
  • Found inside the House of Grief.

The first mirror can be found in the Gauntlet of Shar, albeit broken. At the end of Shadowheart's questline, players visit the House of Grief, where they can interact with the Mirror of Loss to potentially increase any ability by +2, including intelligence.

While players can choose anyone as their main character in Baldur's Gate 3, it can be argued that Shadowheart is the game's true protagonist.

Locked behind a few dialogue checks, the mirror can increase intelligence by +2, a buff that can be stacked with other ability-boosting items. However, players will have to come adequately prepared, as it can be a little tricky to pass the required dialogue checks.

1 Auntie Ethel's Hair

Increases An Ability By +1

Baldur's Gate 3 Auntie Ethel's Hair on the floor
  • Given by Auntie Ethel after reducing her health to 20% with non-lethal damage turned on in her boss fight.

An item that can increase the ability score of a player by +1 is always going to be important to achieve. Auntie Ethel's Hair does just that, increasing any of the abilities of the player by +1.

Obviously, the +1 boon the hair grants is extremely valuable, but players are able to obtain the item as soon as they step off the nautiloid if they desire. The buff is permanent too, making for an incredibly early item that will last until the end of a playthrough, and one that can stack with other's bonuses.
