[UPDATE: Larian has provided a statement to Game ZXC regarding the mystery surrounding this content. It does feature spoilers, so we have included it below the original story and underneath a spoiler warning.]

According to one of the voice actors in Baldur’s Gate 3, there is at least one sizable chunk of the game that no one has discovered yet. If he is to be believed, Baldur’s Gate 3 is hiding a two-hour block of gameplay that is extremely hard to find.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has a massive amount of content in it. With tons of paths players can take through the game, hundreds of characters to encounter, and 7 different Origins, Baldur’s Gate 3 has a staggering amount of replayability.

However, Neil Newborn, the actor who plays Astarion in Baldur’s Gate 3, claimed there is at least one section of the game no player has discovered yet. During an autograph signing stream he held on August 30, Newborn waxed about the sheer volume of stuff in Baldur’s Gate 3. He then claimed there was a segment of the game he was told about in confidence that, to his knowledge, no one has encountered. Recent comments on the YouTube clip seem to indicate players still haven’t found this secret, even after nearly a month since he teased it.

It is hard to say where this part of Baldur’s Gate 3 might be. Newborn was cagey about the details, but he claims he is “one of the few people who know about it,” and refused to confirm if it even involves his Baldur's Gate 3 character Astarion directly. The only hint he gave was that it would be hard to figure out, and that there was about two hours of content to experience once players did find it.

Fans of Baldur’s Gate 3 couldn’t believe there was somehow more corners of the game that players haven’t found. By this point, fans have tried just about everything they could think of to find all aspects of the game. Even so, players are still discovering new bits of dialogue, like a scene where Karlach breaks the fourth wall and speaks to the Baldur’s Gate 3 player directly, so players shouldn’t be too surprised to learn there is even more things to discover in the massive game.

Larian Studios is already gearing up to add even more to the colossal CRPG as well. The release of Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 3 is imminent, with more bug fixes and content on the way. The company is heavily considering paid DLC and expansion packs, so it seems like players will have no end of things to discover on their journeys across the Forgotten Realms.

SPOILER WARNING!

The message from Larian reads:

Neil’s comments were from a signing he did closer to the launch of the game, and he was being secretive in order to avoid spoilers. Players have since found the quest and the lines of dialogue he was talking about. Spoilers ahead!

There’s a quest off the beaten path at the Rosymorn Monastery that rewards you with a nice mace called the Blood of Lathander. If you’re not careful or you try to steal the mace, you may activate a terrifying solar weapon.

If you (intentionally or unintentionally) kill Astarion with this solar weapon and then revive him once you’re back at camp, he… will have some choice words for you. Here’s a clip of Astarion’s reaction: https://youtu.be/cA6yF9M70zM

Baldur's Gate 3 is available now for PC and PS5. An Xbox Series X/S version is in development.
