Bakugo is one of the major characters in Kohei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia manga. A shining Hero aspirant from U.A., Bakugo is an exceptionally important character in the story. In the Final War arc, Bakugo put on quite a display of his strength against the main antagonist of the series, Shigaraki Tomura.

While he certainly made quite an impression on the villain, he ended up being stabbed right through the chest and was left in a near-death condition. Although he was thought to be dying, he was eventually rescued, as many fans predicted. This, however, doesn't make much sense for many reasons.

6 Critical Injury

One of the biggest problems with Bakugo's return is the fact that he received a very dangerous injury which should kill instantly. As fans know, Bakugo was left on death's door for a few chapters. Given that his heart was pierced and his lungs were destroyed to a great extent, Bakugo should not have survived long enough for anyone to save him.

Regardless of how much help the likes of Best Jeanist and Edgeshot would've given him, the truth is that the damage done to him was extreme. No amount of Quirk power should've been able to save him from an injury that kills in seconds. Despite that, Horikoshi went on to show that even an injury as lethal as that was treatable.

5 Used As A Fake Out Death

Tomura Shigaraki in My Hero Academia

Simply put, Bakugo's death was used as a mere tool to raise the level of tension in the arc. It was a fake-out death used to raise the level of intensity of the ongoing fight against Shigaraki Tomura. While that in itself isn't an issue, the execution certainly is. Bakugo was killed off to get the fans more invested in the plot but the weight behind the scene was lacking.

He doesn't suffer from his injury in any way, nor does it affect his life as a Hero. Bakugo was saved by people around him and they ended up paying the price for his death. To him, nothing changed and, thus, the character that Horikoshi used to pull off this stunt remained completely unaffected by it, making it a cheap fake-out death.

4 Doesn't Serve A Purpose

Bakugo's death serves no real purpose in the story of My Hero Academia. The reason Shigaraki killed him in the first place was to infuriate Izuku Midoriya when he arrives on the battlefield. However, Bakugo would certainly not have survived as long as he has if Horikoshi didn't want to keep him alive.

As fans saw, he was treated by Jeanist and Edgeshot immediately afterwards, putting his life beyond any harm. This in itself makes his death quite useless. Bakugo's death was certainly a shock for the fans but that's all that it was. It served no purpose overall and didn't add anything to the story at all. He was merely used as a tool to increase shock value.

3 Edgeshot's Quirk

Edgeshot in My Hero Academia

Edgeshot used his Quirk to save Bakugo after he was left in a near-death state by Shigaraki Tomura. However, a look at his Quirk is enough to tell the fans that it should not have been able to save the young Hero aspirant from dying. Edgeshot's Quirk is known as Foldabody and it allows him to make his body incredibly thin like fiber and enter even the smallest and tightest of spaces.

In theory, there is absolutely no problem that he should face while entering Bakugo's body, however, the damage done to the latter is a lot and his Quirk's nature should not allow him to treat anyone from the inside. Edgeshot has never shown any proficiency in treating people and neither should his Quirk allow him to act as a replacement for a human heart. Horikoshi simply created these aspects of his power out of nowhere.

2 Lack of Medical Expertise

Bakugo's injuries were extremely serious and, as made clear already, he should've died within a matter of seconds. Thanks to Best Jeanist and Edgeshot, however, he survived. Edgeshot entered his body and saved him from the inside by giving him CPR and becoming his heart. Meanwhile, Jeanist did his part to keep life from escaping his body prior to that. What's interesting about this is that none of the two have ever displayed any medical expertise prior to this event.

Treating an injury as gruesome as that of Bakugo would be troublesome for even the most skilled professionals, yet, somehow, two Pro Heroes with barely any experience were able to fix his body. This makes little to no sense, given that Horikoshi introduced this aspect of their power out of nowhere.

1 Meaningless Sacrifice

To save Bakugo, Edgeshot ended up sacrificing himself. It was always going to be incredibly difficult to save Bakugo from the brink of death. To prevent his heart from completely stopping, Edgeshot ended up becoming his heart by entering his body and also giving him CPR so that he could live. Yet, Edgeshot had absolutely no significant connection to Bakugo at all, which makes his sacrifice impactless.

At the same time, in the midst of a very serious battle, it would make more sense for him to continue fighting rather than cripple the Heroes more by sacrificing his life to save someone else. Furthermore, Edgeshot has barely been involved in the story and for him to sacrifice his life doesn't hold much weight at all and makes the situation inconsequential in the grand scheme of things. While the idea of Bakugo's death was certainly good, its execution left much to be desired.
