Highlights

  • The Bloodthorne Build in Backpack Battles relies on RNG for Hungry Blade; prioritize Healing Herbs, Piggybanks, and Tusks for early advantage.
  • The Lucky Archer build starts slow, relies on Mega Clover for late-game critical hits; prioritize Shortbows, Lucky Clovers, and Lucky Piggies early on.
  • The Moon Knight build is versatile with strong offense and defense; look for Cap Of Resilience, Mana Orbs, Yggdrasil Leaf, and defensive items for success.

Backpack Battles is a recently released, popular auto-battler that combines elements of games such as Backpack Hero with competitive auto-battler games like Super Auto Pets. In the game, players pick a unique class and build various synergies in an inventory-management mini-game.

Backpack Battles: How To Get Spectral Dagger

If you're looking for a magical weapon in Backpack Battles that deals decent damage and penetrates enemy armor, here's how to get the Spectral Dagger.

The Ranger is the perfect class for beginners to Backpack Battles, as they feature a variety of straightforward builds that are easy to grasp early on. Furthermore, there are plenty of options for the Ranger in the early game, many of which can be developed into full builds later on. These are just a few examples.

1 Bloodthorne Build - The Yggdrasil Leaf

Solid Damage And Defense With A Reliance On Good Shops

Backpack Battles - Combat Gameplay

Although Backpack Battles is ripe with RNG, this build in particular doesn't work without a specific item spawning in the shop: the Hungry Blade. This item is the crux of this build, as it allows the player to craft the Bloodthorne by combining it with the Thorn Whip.

Backpack Battles: All Recipes List

By combining certain weapons, armor, and potions, you can create new equipment. Here's a list of all the recipes in Backpack Battles.

When going for the Bloodthorne build, players should aim to acquire as many Healing Herbs and Piggybanks as they can, being sure to combine the latter with Lucky Clovers to create Lucky Piggies. Players should also be on the lookout for Tusks, which can be combined with Shields and Shortbows to create Spiked Shields and Tusk Pokers. These items can be built fairly quickly and are a great help early on, especially when combined with Lucky Piggies.

2 Lucky Archer - The Mega Clover

Massive Scaling And End-Game Potential With A Slow Start

Backpack Battles - Mega Clover gameplay

This precarious build utilizes the Ranger's greatest strengths, but it's a slow start that can result in a quick loss if players aren't careful. This is because the build relies heavily on the Mega Clover, one of the Ranger's subclasses, which players don't get access to until later in the game. The end goal of this build is to build Fortuna's Grace and combine it with an abundance of Luck (generated from the Mega Clover, among other things) that, when combined with the Ranger Bag (an inventory extension that the Ranger starts with), will grant a massive amount of critical hit chance.

The best way to survive the early game while attempting this build is to grab Shortbows as soon as they're offered, making sure to sell off the starter Wooden Sword to save Stamina. Lucky Clovers and Piggybanks are also a must in the early game, not only to boost income but to combine into Lucky Piggies. While players could combine the Clovers with their Shortbows to create Fortuna's Hope, it's better to create Lucky Piggies early on (more Lucky Clovers are guaranteed later with the Mega Clover), which can be helpful when combined with Tusk Pokers (created by combining Tusks with Shortbows) by boosting the 50% chance to gain a Spike. This light Thorn build should keep players safe in the early game, especially when combined with a Spiked Shield or two.

As soon as players see a Bow And Arrow in the shop, the build is nearly complete. Combining this Bow And Arrow with Lucky Clovers creates Fortuna's Grace, which is the crux of the build. Fortuna's Grace should be pointed directly at a Tusk Poker. Players can then surround their Tusk Pokers with their Lucky Piggies from the early game, which will boost the chances of gaining Thorns. When combined with Acorn Collars and some Stamina Potions / Bananas for sustainability, this build is fairly unstoppable in the late game.

3 Moon Knight - The Manathirst Build

A Strong Defense, Sustainability, And Consistent Damage

Backpack Battles - Manathirst Gameplay

What makes this build so powerful is its strength in the early game, as well as its huge versatility in the late game. However, in the mid-game, things can get dicey; many of the items in this build need to be crafted, which can take time. Failing to get the build-up in time can lead to death in the mid-game and, unfortunately, this is somewhat down to RNG. The goal of this build is to have multiple Magic weapons and Armor Pieces, which synergize to create a strong defense and offense.

Backpack Battle: How to Get Holy Spear

Elevate your ordinary spear to a Godly weapon by transforming it into the Holy Spear in Backpack Battle. Here is how to get this item in the game.

The first thing players should do when attempting this build is look out for a lump of coal in the shop. When combined with the Wooden Sword that the Ranger starts with, players will have themselves a Torch. This item is relatively solid in the early game, especially when combined with defensive items (the Torch scales over time). If need be, players can also build themselves a Lucky Piggy or two, which will help to boost the Torch's chance-based effect, though this isn't necessary. If possible, players are better off buying as many Blueberries and Health Potions as possible, which can later be combined into Mana Potions and used to build two important weapons for the build: Magic Torch and Spectral Dagger. Another good way to get through the early game is to purchase a Frying Pan and some other food items, being sure to prioritize Blueberries. The Frying Pan and other food items can be sold in the late-game to make room for stronger items, but they'll help keep players in the running until the right items show up.

As players progress, they should keep an eye out for a Cap Of Resilience and Mana Orbs. The Cap Of Resilience is a must, as it prevents players from being stun-locked at the start of fights, and also provides solid damage reduction. The Mana Orbs are necessary to create Manathirst, which will act as the third prong of this build's offense. Mana Orbs are also necessary for creating the Moon Armor (Holy Armor + Mana Orb) and Moon Shield (Shield Of Valor + Mana Orb) that will provide the defensive side of this build. Furthermore, the Yggdrasil Leaf will provide a good majority of the player's Mana in the mid-game, and will also produce Regeneration as a byproduct. Players can take advantage of this Regeneration by taking a Heart Container or two.

4 Forest Friends - Big Bowl Of Treats

A Slow-Burning Build With Strong Scaling

Backpack Battles - Big Bowl Of Treats gameplay

This build is best developed by taking a Frying Pan and as many food items as possible in the early game. If players are offered Gooberts, they should be sure to purchase them as well. The goal of this build is to have as much food and as many pets as possible, though the success of the build in the late-game somewhat depends on players finding a Hungry Blade in the shop. While waiting for the Hungry Blade to show up, players can build Tusk Pokers and/or Spiked Shields for some Thorns.

Because players are likely to build Tusk Pokers in the early game, they should focus on building a Lucky Piggy or two to complement the chance-based effect of the Tusk Pokers. In the mid-game, players should take the Big Bowl Of Treats, which will begin offering players Forest Friends in the shop, a form of pet. This works perfectly with the Big Bowl Of Treats' passive effect, which gives all Pets a 30% chance to activate twice.

Once players have the Hungry Blade, they can combine it with the Thorn Whip to create the Bloodthorne, which will help to provide consistent damage output. From there, players are free to experiment with whichever Forest Friends they want, but the Hedgehogs work particularly well with the Thorn-focused items. When going for Hedgehogs, it's also a good idea to fit in a couple of Pineapples where possible, preferably adjacent to the Big Bowl Of Treats.
