Back 4 Blood may not have had the reception that it was hoping for. Direct comparison to the Left 4 Dead franchise was never going to work out in its favor. That hasn't stopped the cooperative shooter from maintaining a dedicated fanbase, however, allowing Back 4 Blood's continued support half a year later. Turtle Rock is now preparing to launch Back 4 Blood's first major expansion, Tunnels of Terror, which will be packed full of new Cleaners, Ridden enemies, weapons, and hives to explore.

Today Turtle Rock dropped the launch trailer for its upcoming major expansion, Tunnels of Terror, for Back 4 Blood. Unfortunately, Tunnels of Terror isn't available just yet. The launch trailer is simply a tease, a reminder for Back 4 Blood players to come back and try the new content once it arrives. That arrival date will be April 12 in the west at 10:00 AM PT/1:00 PM ET across all major platforms, including PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.

The new content included with the Tunnels of Terror expansion has been teased for some time. The biggest addition is, of course, plenty of new PvE content to play through and against. As Back 4 Blood's new trailer confirms, there will be 7 new Ridden Hives for players to explore and conquer. These Hives will be unique, taking players deep underground where the Ridden are born and spread. Naturally, new types of Ridden will also be waiting to be discovered underground. Three new Ridden, the Ripper, Shredder, and Urchin, will be available.

There's more beyond Ridden Hives and enemies to find in the Tunnels of Terror, of course. Two new Back 4 Blood cleaners will be available to unlock and play as. There's Sharice the firefighter and Heng, who owned a restaurant before the apocalypse. Sharice and Heng will have their own traits, Team Effects, and other unique features for players to discover. Additionally, there will be seven new weapons for players to earn and wield with deadly efficiency in Tunnels of Terror. For example, there's the Damnation, with incendiary ammo, the Tenderizer, an explosive hammer, and more to look forward to.

It wouldn't be Back 4 Blood without new cards for players to equip, too. Cards that have already been revealed include the Weaponsmith ability, which allows players to swap attachments outside of Saferooms for 400 copper, and the Bodyguard talent, which absorbs 50% of damage teammates take so long as they're within 5 meters.

Tunnels of Terror will be delivering new experiences for Back 4 Blood players to discover, as well as new ways to play entirely. Expect to hear more about Tunnels of Terror closer to the expansion's release date. A price for the expansion has yet to be confirmed.

Back 4 Blood is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
