Fans of Square Enix have been going through a rough ride in 2022. While there have been highly-anticipated and positively received games released this year such as Triangle Strategy, there have also been plenty of misses that have left fans frustrated. One of these big misses was Babylon's Fall, the company's latest live service title in joint collaboration with acclaimed action game studio PlatinumGames. While Babylon's Fall contains the same hack-and-slash action RPG gameplay that fans have expected and loved from previous projects like Nier: Automata, Babylon's Fall hasn't received the same amount of praise.

Despite the rough launch of the game as well as its tepid critical and fan reception, Babylon's Fall is promised to get at least two more seasons of content, according to both the developer and its publisher. The game's first seasonal content update is now live, which will provide some new features for players to explore as well as some minor fixes to the gameplay.

A trailer for Babylon's Fall reveals what has been added in Season 2, known as The Light of Aaru. This includes a brand-new faction that players can join, known as the Kuftaali. This faction is described to have originated from a desert, with a society built on merchant and trading. They specialize in support skills that utilize Gutwork abilities that are only exclusive to this faction.

The other addition is a new weapon type that Babylon's Fall players can use, the Pistol. As its name implies, it is an exclusively ranged weapon that is capable of causing stun damage to enemies when fired. These can be fired in a "rapid-fire" kinda way or be charged up to fire a big "Perfect Shot" to deal massive damage. It seems like it will control similarly to Bayonetta or Nier: Automata in terms of how players shoot the enemy in third-person.

A new element known as "Helio" will be introduced, which utilizes the power of the sun. Weapons and armor with this element will also be implemented. A beach-themed in-game event known as the Sun Festival will also be coming to the game in the future, where players who participate will be wearing a swimsuit. Alongside the update for Season 2, the developers at Babylon's Fall announced they are re-evaluating the game and its future, even extending the season from its initial August 29 end date to November 29.

Babylon's Fall is available now for PC, PS4, and PS5.
