Although having a bit of a rough launch, players of Babylon's Fall can perhaps still find lots of fun in the core gameplay loop of PlatinumGames' tried and true hack and slash formula borrowed from their other titles, such as NieR: Automata or Bayonetta. With these mechanics now brought to an online co-op dungeon crawler, players can expect to team up with friends or strangers in order to face the challenges ahead of them as they navigate the game's seven main cloisters.

Babylon's Fall has players creating a Sentinel, tasked with the quest to take back the Tower of Babel from rival foes. This main hook will be the sole drive as the player travels further and further up the Ziggurat, fighting ever increasingly difficult (albeit perhaps spongy) enemies in a finite power level climb. Players will find themselves navigating dungeons, finding chests and loot, battling foes in various arenas in each level, with the occasional boss fight to spice things up.

They can then take their spoils and bring them back to a hub world where they can sell, buy, or upgrade these various items in order to go back in and get themselves higher.

This guide provides Sentinels with everything they need to know about navigating the dungeons and tips for builds and the available weapons.

Starting the Game

platinum developer update

There are many things that the game does not explain, especially when it comes to the game's near-infinite menus. Just as an example, when the player first starts the game as a new character, they will be given a choice between three different factions, which essentially serve as the game's classes. However, the descriptions fail to mention details, giving only brief lore-based explanations instead of perhaps more pertinent questions the player may have before deciding on one.

Players can feel a bit lost, especially once they are dropped into the Hub world, as much of the mechanics are simply alluded to and not necessarily explained. Fortunately for the player, they can find everything they need to know about getting started and understanding these menus using the guides provided below.

Weapons & Builds

Babylons-Fall---Fighting_1800x900

The main core gameplay loop is not all too complicated. Babylon's Fall will see the player alternating between the hub world and the various cloisters as they navigate linear dungeons. Players are incentivized to replay missions to farm additional loot, as regardless of the mission, the player will get loot appropriate to their power level.

Players will inevitably find themselves against a wall, where a mission may be too high of a power level, forcing the player a few steps back to move one step forward. This is the core of Babylon's Fall, and generally, it only gets worse the higher the player climbs. However, players looking to replay as little as possible may find some assistance in the form of the following guides that provide combat tips and preparation suggestions before going forth on the mission.
