A new Avatar: The Last Airbender video game has been announced, titled Avatar: The Last Airbender: Quest for Balance. It's being developed by Bamtang Games who's created other Nickelodeon titles in the past along with publisher Game Mill Entertainment. It promises to be packed with content Avatar: The Last Airbender fans will love and recognize.

Bamtang Games is a fairly unknown developer in the world of video games. They've created for Nickelodeon the Kart Racers series, which had three installments so far and seems to be Nickelodeon's version of Mario Kart. None of those three received critical acclaim and are not rated particularly high on Steam either. While some players say the third one, Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3: Slime Speedway is the best out of the three, its rating is still just mixed on Steam with gamers citing technical difficulties not just on PC but on various other platforms. Game Mill Entertainment published those games, as well as Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. While the all-time reviews show the quality as mostly positive, the recent reviews categorize it as mixed due to lack of content. Very recently, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 also seemingly leaked online before its release.

All of the above may mean a hint of caution is recommended for fans when managing their expectations for this new game. However, it may be that Avatar: The Last Airbender: Quest for Balance will be the game-changer. The trailer shows very little when it comes to gameplay, mostly playing on the nostalgia of fans, starting the same way the series did. It showcases some examples of the puzzles which give a general idea of what to look forward to but with very little depth. Then again, for an announcement trailer, this tends to be the standard. When it comes to the animation, it seems to flow less than what fans of the show may be used to, but the art style looks great and somewhat reminiscent of the latest Legend of Zelda games.

There will be nine playable characters which will include Aang, Toph, Sokka, and Katara. The game will focus on solving puzzles by manipulating the elements as well as doing side quests. Characters will have upgrades and as the trailer teases, and plenty of well-known Avatar: The Last Airbender side characters and antagonists will be available to interact with throughout the game. Quest for Balance will be playable solo, however, two-player local or online co-op will also be an option.

Fans can be cautiously optimistic when it comes to Avatar: The Last Airbender's new game. They won't need to wait too long for the release either.

Avatar: The Last Airbender: Quest for Balance will be available in fall 2023 on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
