Avatar: The Last Airbender is getting a competitive multiplayer fighting game next year. Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender animated series introduced a world comprised of four different nations, each one modeled after four basic elements that can be controlled by certain people known as “Benders.” At the heart of the show’s story is Aang, the titular Avatar who can command all four elements, and his growing group of friends who must work together to stop the oppressive Fire Nation from conquering the world.
Avatar: The Last Airbender ran for three seasons on Nickelodeon, earning widespread acclaim for its rich setting and surprisingly deep plot and narrative themes. There have been numerous Avatar video games of varying quality over the years, with the most recent one being 2023’s ill-received Avatar The Last Airbender: Quest for Balance. Various Avatar characters have also appeared in crossover titles like the Nickelodeon Kart Racers 2 series and Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, including a few from the sequel series, The Legend of Korra.
Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl Reveals Aang and Korra Movesets
With just a few days to go, fans are given a look at the movesets for Aang and Korra for the highly anticipated Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl.
Earlier this week, publisher and distributor Maximum Games released its roadmap for 2024 on its official YouTube channel, as reported by Gematsu. During this, it announced that it has entered a partnership with Paramount Consumer Products to develop a competitive multiplayer game set in the universe of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Maximum CEO Christina Seelye said that this game will be released in Early Access in 2025, but gave no other details about its developer or what platforms it will be available on.
Avatar’s New Multiplayer Title Comes At An Exciting Time For The Franchise
This newly-announced Avatar: The Last Airbender game is coming just as the franchise has reentered the public zeitgeist, thanks to several different projects coming in the next few years. A live-action adaptation of the original Avatar: The Last Airbender series will premiere on Netflix on February 22, and Paramount is producing three follow-up animated films under its Avatar Studios division, spearheaded by original Avatar creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko.
The timing couldn’t be better for a new wave of Avatar: The Last Airbender video games, even if last year’s Quest for Balance left much to be desired for fans of the series. There isn’t a whole lot of information about Maximum Games’ newly announced Avatar: The Last Airbender multiplayer fighting game as of this writing, but the franchise does lend itself well to the genre thanks to its many memorable characters and special powers that draw from the elements of nature itself.

Team Avatar is back in this action-adventure game! Players can relive the epic adventure of the original Avatar: The Last Airbender series, playing as Aang and his friends to master the elements, explore, solve puzzles, and experience the best moments of Aang’s story first-hand. Players can go through the story solo or with a friend through the two-player co-op mode. Theer are nine iconic characters to play as, including Aang, Toph, Sokka, and Katara. Solve mysteries and navigate challenging puzzles using bending and the unique abilities of water, earth, fire and air to unleash the full potential of Avatar!
