Attack on Titan has taken some extremely wild turns ever since its inception. A story that was mainly about killing Titans to secure the future of humanity increased its scope by an immense extent, portraying humanity itself as the villains instead of putting all the blame on these Titanic monstrosities. The protagonist of the story himself, Eren Yeager, has undergone some drastic changes and given rise to the birth of the Yeagerists as well.

This rebel faction has already played a central role in some of the most critical moments in the series, freeing Eren Yeager and allowing him to rejoin his brother once again. While the very idea of this movement is pretty exciting in its own right, certain aspects of the Yeagerists don't really make a lot of sense when people take a closer look at this faction in Attack on Titan.

7 Their Extremist Views Are Pretty Flawed

The Yeagerists in Attack on Titan

The Yeagerists believe that Eren is the one who will save Paradis Island and bring glory to the land once again. This is mainly going to be accomplished by crushing their predecessors... but it has to be said that their extreme ideologies are pretty flawed.

Violence cannot beget violence, yet the Yeagerists feel like these extreme shows of violence are the only way that people will finally see the light. The fact that they killed someone as important as Darius Zackly without a second through shows that their views are anything but solid.

6 Letting People Ingest Zeke's Spinal Fluid Is Pretty Twisted

Zeke Yeager in Attack on Titan

The idea of turning into a Titan is pretty horrifying, and this is something the Yeagerists should've been pretty familiar with. Unfortunately, it seems that this group didn't get the memo and willingly chose to spike the wine of the military with Zeke's spinal fluid.

This led to a bunch of innocents unknowingly ingesting the wine and becoming mere pawns in Zeke's bargaining strategy. Surely, these people would've realized that performing such an inhumane act would not be the greatest way to convince people that they were in the right?

5 Beating Up Keith Shadis To Prove A Point Was Unnecessary

Keith Shadis in Attack on Titan

While this is mainly Floch's doing, there's no denying that the leader of the Yeagerists speaks for the entire faction whenever he proposes anything drastic. This is the case when Floch interrupts Keith Shadis and discredits his ideals in front of impressionable young recruits who were being swayed by the ideals of Eren Yeager and the Yeagerists.

However, Floch truly crosses a line when he tells prospective Yeagerists to beat Keith Shadis into a pulp so that their resolve to support Eren is clear for everyone to see. It's a truly horrifying moment that brings the morality of the Yeagerists into question... although it's clear that having the moral high ground is not a major priority for this faction.

4 Prospective Recruits Didn't Shy Away After Witnessing The Brutality Of The Yeagerists

There's no denying that Floch and the Yeagerists are to blame for taking such extreme measures to make new recruits prove themselves. However, that doesn't excuse the needless brutality expressed by these new recruits who were apparently so desperate to join the cause they believed in that they beat an innocent and aging military commander to a pulp just so that they could prove their mettle.

It's a truly horrifying scene, and most people would shy away from performing such a brutal attack without thinking twice. However, it seems that the end goal of supporting Eren has blinded many Yeagerists and forced them down a dark path that they seemingly have no escape from... even though the choice was always with them from the get-go.

3 Their Incompetence That Allowed Hange And Levi To Escape Was Pretty Convenient

For a group that is apparently supposed to be the driving force that helps Eren Yeager complete his plan, it's genuinely unbelievable to see just how incompetent the Yeagerists can be at times. A massive example of this is when they pretty much allow Hange and Levi to escape after finding Zeke Yeager.

While it's understandable that some major characters in the show are bound to show their plot armor at some point, it still doesn't change the fact that the Yeagerists were completely incompetent fools in this scene. Not only do they fail to stop Hange and Levi from escaping, but they also miss all of the shots that could've hit the mark and eliminated both threats for good.

2 How Pieck Managed To Slip In Unnoticed Among The Group Is Pretty Suspect

Pieck Finger attack on titan

The mid-season finale of Attack on Titan sees Pieck infiltrate the ranks of the Yeagerists and hold Eren hostage. She concocts a rather convincing speech about how she wants to help Eldians as well, before pulling a 180 and showing Eren her true colors with Marley's effective counterattack.

While this moment was pretty awesome indeed, most people find it hard to believe that the Yeagerists were so bad at profiling their ranks that they didn't notice such an important and noticeable impostor. They even mention just how pretty Pieck is, so the idea that such a face would go unnoticed within the faction for so long is hard to believe... especially when she was in such close proximity to their leader as well!

1 The Sheer Disregard The Yeagerists Have For Their Life Is Hard To Fathom

Floch and Eren in Attack on Titan

While it's true that revolution requires some brave souls to sacrifice their lives, it's hard to believe that the short-lived Yeagerists have managed to amass such a loyal force. They happily lay down their lives for a cause that they don't even understand properly!

While this might be indicative of the frustration that the residents of Paradis Island have experienced after being lied to for the longest time, the sheer disregard that these Yeagersists have for their own life is hard to believe. At the very least, Erwin was a charismatic leader who convinced his recruits that their final charge wouldn't lead to their death, which was a complete lie. Is the same lie being fed to the Yeagerists as well?
