The latest trailer has released for Attack on Titan The Final Season Part 4. It came out via Pony Canyon's official YouTube account, along with the Attack on Titan Twitter page. The anime is set to begin airing in the Fall 2023 anime season, and will be the final part of the Attack on Titan story at last.
The trailer was actually revealed to Western audiences for the first time at Anime EXPO in the MAPPA x Crunchyroll panel this past Sunday. Crunchyroll's title for the anime is a little different from the direct Japanese translation, at Attack on Titan Final Season THE FINAL CHAPTERS Special 2. Both titles are being used in the English-speaking world, so it's good to recognize them both and not get confused that they are referring to the same part of the story.
Attack on Titan originally aired in 2013, and has since had four anime seasons and four movies. The fourth season is the one that has been slowly airing since 2020. The original part, Attack on Titan The Final Season lasted for 16 episodes. It would be almost two years before the second part of The Final Season would release in January 2022, lasting another 12 episodes, titled The Final Season Part 2. Then, The Final Season Part 3 released as a one-hour special on March 3rd, 2023, over a year later.
Lucky for Attack on Titan fans, they won't have to wait another year to finally see the next - and truly final - part of the story. It will air this fall, only two seasons after the first half. The story of The Final Season is set four years after the main characters have learned the shocking truth about the world they live in, and introduced a new cast of characters called the Warrior Unit. As the Survey Corps are locked in battle with the Warrior Unit, the main character Eren Yaegar struggles to free his homeland.
The manga for Attack on Titan concluded back in 2021, so readers of the manga already know how the story will end. But for everyone who has only been watching the anime for the past ten years, the end of the story is finally within their grasp. Attack on Titan has been a lot of shocks, twists, and turns over the years, with wild reveals that no one could have predicted, and it's hard to imagine what the ending will be for those who have not read the manga.
Despite being a ten-year-old series now, Attack on Titan has not lost its popularity. The fact that the trailer was revealed at a convention in America shows its place on the global stage, and shows that the market outside of Japan is just as strong as the one domestically. Within one day of the trailer going live on YouTube, it already garnered over 2 million views. Not a lot of anime have that kind of legacy, and the pressure is high for The Final Season Part 4 to go out with a bang.
