The Attack On Titan finale was traumatic for everyone, but one creative cosplayer decided to ensure everyone would remember it by recreating one of the final season's most memorable moments.

After a decade of content, the anime adaptation of Attack On Titan finally ended. Eren's childhood friends Mikasa and Armin pull the trigger -- so to speak -- on ending the tyranny of the Titans for all. In the final arc, Eren revealed himself as a true villain in a cathartic moment. He aimed to initiate the Rumbling, destroying 20% of the human population. His friends would have no choice but to eliminate him in the finale. And, of course, in the last episode, Mikasa had to be the one to do it. Despite the years of unrequited love she harbored for her adoptive brother, Mikasa decapitated him and planted a kiss on his lifeless lips.

This moment was significant to @digidawww10 and @cosercosjm, as it was to everyone who experienced this plot twist. The artists paid homage to this Attack on Titan moment on Instagram by cosplaying as Mikasa, red scarf and all. As an accessory to their costume, @digidawww10 included a prop of Eren's head. "Help, I’m going crazy [...] It was very hard to edit this," @digidawww10 wrote in the caption.

Eren's ultimate end was a culmination of pain and suffering that began when he was just a boy. After seeing his mother eaten by a powerful Titan, he went on a lifelong rampage to get revenge on the beasts. But while his intentions started pure, he became the very thing he hated the most. With the power to transform into a Titan, he used this ability to devastate the world. He later revealed to Armin that his motives were only to save the world, but that is a weak excuse for genocide. He understood he would have to die, and dying at Mikasa's hand was somehow the right choice. Neither of them was ever able to act on their feelings. Romance is never very high on the list of priorities when in a constant state of war.

But as grotesque as Mikasa's kiss was, that is the world of one of the best shĹŤnen anime. It was the best outcome anyone could have hoped for, as bleak as it was. Mikasa could physically communicate her love for Eren, though it certainly was not how either of them intended it. In a way, Eren is responsible for the end of the war. He just had to die to get it. And for Mikasa's part, she spent the rest of her life loving Eren, whether he was aware of it or not.

Attack On Titan is streaming on Hulu and Crunchyroll.
