Fans were left wondering how the final part of Attack on Titan would play out after the first part of season four ended. With much anticipation, viewers can now see the impending fight between Marley and Paradis. Can the military and Jeagerists handle the onslaught? What will happen between Riener and Eren?
Before Marley sent an air fleet to attack Paradis, the last episode of Attack on Titan season four-part one left everyone in shambles. Zeke Jaeger has been placed inside the belly of a female titan, having been injured from his fight with Levi. Levi doesn't look great either, having been in the blast of the thunder spear he used against Zeke. Military members are kept in containment due to the wine laced with Zeke's spinal fluid, and Eren is attacked by Porco's Jaw Titan while confronting Gabi. With Marley airships on the horizon, can Eren and the others fight to save their home once more, and will Zeke successfully sterilize all Eldians?
"Judgment"
At the start of the "Judgment," we see Hange holding a dead Levi. The Jeagerists with Hange wish to kill him, but Hange explains that Levi died when the thunder spear exploded, shredding his insides. While this happens, the female titan that held Zeke in her belly produces an extreme amount of steam. Unusual for pure titans who absorb steam as they die, a nude Zeke emerges from the skeleton of the titan. Fully healed and confused due to the visions of a young girl remolding his body. With the Jeagerists distracted, Hange dives into the nearby river with Levi's body.
In his Jaw Titan form, the following sense shows us Porco, shielding Pieck and Gabi from Eren's transformation. In order for Pieck to help, Porco removes Pieck's hand, allowing her to transform into the Cart Titan and freeing Pieck and Gabi from their shackles. Wasting no more time, Pieck takes Gabi back to General Magath and the other Marleyan soldiers. Piech and the General head for the wall to shoot Eren's Titan down, Equipping the Cart Titan armor. During this time, Yelena implores Eren to escape inside using the War Hammer Titan ability. Eren refuses and heads into battle against the Armored Titan, the Jaw Titan, and the Cart Titan.
Below, Onyankopon goes to the cells to free Armin, Mikasa, and the others. Onyankopon pleads for them to help Eren because he is losing against Reiner and the other Titans. Once the door is unlocked, Connie energies enraged, upset over all the betrayals and the prospect that Yelena and the others want to sterilize his people. Onyankopon tries to explain that he had no idea about this plan and that he had left everything behind to stop Marley and help Paradis flourish. Connie and Jean are still uncertain, and Mikasa can't help but remember Eren's words about the Akerman's.
Armen steps in defending Eren, stating that Eren had no choice but to go along with Zeke and Yelena to have their help. In the end, Eren is the one who holds the Founding Titan ability, he has the power to decide, and Armin insists that Eren would never want the Eldians to be sterilized. The episode ends with Armin's words of hope, Eren using the rumbling to keep the island safe for the next 50 years, and Eren's Titan screaming in pain.
Deep Dive
When Zeke emerges from the belly of the female titan, he mentions his time with the young girl. In that sense, viewers glance at the blue tree that has appeared a couple of times in the show. Before cutting off to Eren, Zeke realizes that what he experienced was the paths. If this is the case, Zeke might have come into contact with one of the original holders of the Beast Titan or Ymir herself remolding Zeke's body. Could this mean that the girl commanded the pure titan to save Zeke, giving him time to heal and see this vision?
The other important question that appeared during this episode is what happened to Hange and Levi. Hange claimed that Levi was dead, but as a soldier and the Commander of the Survey Corps, she knows carrying around a dead body will slow her down. Then why bother bringing Levi's corpse, unless Levi wasn't dead at all. What if some miracle has happened and Levi didn't die from the thunder spear, this would mean Hange would have to bring Levi with her. The question is how long Levi will survive, especially since Hange threw them into the river.
Other than those moments, the latest episode of Attack on Titan picks up with the battle between Marley and Paradis. This is expected considering that this new 'season' is just a continuation of season four. Regardless many questions still have yet to be answered. With upcoming episodes, fans are sure to find out.
