Attack on Titan is quickly making a case for being one of the greatest anime ever made. Hajime Isayama has crafted an amazing series that shifted its scope from a single horror manga about killing Titans to a commentary on the cycle of war and hatred itself. It's a transformation that everyone appreciates, especially with the risks it has taken in the story.

One of the most memorable parts of Attack on Titan is its massive and memorable cast. Each character has a role to play in the story and is all the more exciting to follow, as a result. That being said, not all the characters in the show are of this high quality, with the following people arguably hurting the overall quality of the series!

8 Darius Zackly

Darius Zackly in Attack on Titan

For a military commander who is supposed to be pretty wise, it's surprising to see just how unnecessarily sadistic Darius Zackly is. He doesn't seem like a person capable of making rational decisions, and it's hard to wonder how people managed to rely on him during the Uprising arc.

To make matters worse, he also gets excited at the idea of torturing people. The fact that his death had such little impact on the series shows that this character was a mistake, and getting rid of him quickly was a smart move.

7 Gabi Braun

Gabi in Attack on Titan

Most people are split down the line when it comes to Gabi. The fact that she killed one of the most popular characters in the entire show and constantly gets a noticeable amount of plot armor throughout the show is something that irritates many fans of the series.

While there's no denying that Gabi is a pretty interesting character who reacts as the audience did in a short span of time, it doesn't change the fact that she simply trivializes most threats in the series. It's almost a given that she's never going to die and is going to magically survive encounters that could kill more trained soldiers.

6 Gross

Gross in Attack on Titan

Gross was one of the most despicable characters in the entire series. He had absolutely no regard for Eldian life and let Grisha's sister be mauled by dogs for his own sick and twisted amusement.

While it was satisfying to watch this character get the comeuppance he deserved, he was just so comically evil that it still felt hollow. Human beings might be heinous at times, but Gross crossed that line so many times that his 'evil' persona almost became a parody of itself.

5 Rod Reiss

Rod Reiss in Attack on Titan

The royal family had one of the most tragic tales in the entire series. They were bound by the promise of a king who didn't care about anyone but himself and were doomed to serve the will of the Marleyans until Grisha and Eren kickstarted the events of the revolution.

Rod Reiss was the man who tried to get the Founding Titan back into the royal family once again and was about to doom the residents of Paradis Island. Thankfully, his attempts were thwarted...although Eren's actions have proven that perhaps this wasn't the most ideal outcome either.

4 Kenny Ackermann

Kenny Ackerman from Attack on Titan

This mention is bound to elicit some uproar, given how infectious and amusing Kenny's character was. It's a shame that he serves as the antagonist of one of the show's worst arcs and doesn't really stick around for long to make a better impression.

The reveal that he was Levi's uncle still had some impact, although that has also been forgotten in the grand scheme of things by many. Everyone wanted Titans to play a key role in the series once again, and Kenny's death let that happen.

3 Kiyomi Azumabito

Kiyomi Azumabito in attack on titan

Kiyomi possibly takes the crown of being the most pointless character in the entire show. Her entire presence was just to add more weight to the world's scope and give Mikasa a royal title as well. She has been a fairly unimportant background character ever since.

Most people would agree that her character could've been executed in a better manner, if not omitted entirely. At the end of the day, Kiyomi was a pretty disappointing inclusion to the cast and doesn't really have a lot of time to give a stronger impression.

2 Yelena

Yelena attack on titan

Yelena is another controversial pick for this list. After all, she does seem like a pretty interesting character in her own right and played a vital role during the first half of Attack on Titan's season.

As of right now, her beliefs have taken a major hit, to the point where she's let herself be captured by the enemy in a pretty trivial fashion. Only time will tell what's in store for this character since she's become nothing more than baggage at this point.

1 Floch Forster

Floch smiling maliciously

The Yeagerists are one of the most despicable groups in the entire show. Their cries for resolution ring hollow when viewers realize that they're completely okay with the act of genocide just to save their own hide.

The leader of the Yeagerists is Floch Forster, who has transformed from a cowardly soldier into a proud mouthpiece for Eren's goals. He's quickly become an annoying character whose actions get pretty tiresome after the first few times he rants about justice and revenge.
