Attack On Titan is, unfortunately, nearing its end with the second part of the Final Season airing this Sunday, January 9. The anime has attracted a lot of attention over the past few years, and although it can be sad that Eren's story must come to an end, many fans are excited to know how the events of the first part of the season will turn out

Living in a world that is overrun by Titans and always on the constant brink of war can be depressing and stressful for the inhabitants of Paradis Island. It's a good thing that they have the Survey Corps to protect them as it isn't easy to be brave like Eren, Levi or the other characters of the series. Living in a world like this takes courage — which these Attack on Titan characters have in spades.

Warning: Spoilers Ahead

10 Hannes

Attack On Titan: Collage Of Hannes

Hannes was the Captain of the Garrison Regiment in the Shigashina District. He was also a very close friend of the Yeager family, and he always kept an eye on Eren, Mikasa, and Armin. When the Titans began attacking the district, all the claims about being ready to fight them proved false when he froze in fear instead of helping his people get to safety.

However, as soon as he heard that Eren and Mikasa were in immediate danger, Hannes demonstrated that even a coward like him could be a brave hero. When it comes to saving the people he loves, he doesn't hesitate to take action.

9 Hange Zoë

Attack On Titan: Collage of Hange Young and Older With Eyepatch

Hange is one of the bravest characters in the series because she isn't afraid to put her life in danger in the name of science and experiments. As part of the Scout Regiment, Hange had a few Titans in her care where she conducted experiments on them, and gave them names. She even grew so attached that she cried when they were killed.

Her reckless behavior around her Titans often put her in dangerous situations — like that one time where she was almost eaten alive. Though some might call her rash, it takes a particular type of bravery to engage in such activities.

8 Ymir

Attack On Titan: Collage of Ymir

Ymir always protected and watched over her friend Christa, aka Historia, the future Queen of the Walls. Her most memorable act of bravery was during the Battle of Trost District, when she unleashed her Jaw Titan to save her friend.

Christa, Reiner, Bertolt and Connie were trapped on top of a soon-to-be collapsing tower among many starving Titans, and the only way to rescue them was for Ymir to sacrifice herself. In the process, she revealed her secret about being a Titan and therefore, as promised, Christa revealed her true identity. Both characters showed extreme bravery in this scene

7 Falco Grice

Attack On Titan: Collage Of Falco Grice

Falco isn't very agile or adept in battle, but that doesn't stop him from constantly helping everyone he can, especially his best friend, Gabi. He is always shielding her from harm and getting hurt in her place, which takes a lot of bravery to do.

Falco even offered to take the Armored Titan in her place so she would have the chance to live a perfectly long and healthy life. Though he doesn't want it, he is brave enough to make the ultimate sacrifice so she wouldn't have to.

6 Reiner Braun

Attack On Titan: Collage Of Young And Old Reiner

Abandoned by his father at a young age, Reiner became a Marleyan warrior to get him back. His quest to become a great warrior made him the perfect candidate to inherit the power of the Armored Titan. When it was time to infiltrate Paradis Island to retrieve the Founding Titan, he followed his team, Bertolt, Annie and Marcel, without looking back.

When Marcel was killed tragically by a Titan, the team wanted to go home and cancel the mission. However, Reiner was brave enough to take charge of the mission and lead his team to safety instead. Ever since that day, he's been known to be a great leader who is constantly there for his friends.

5 Gabi Braun

Attack On Titan: Collage Of Gaby Last Season

Reiner's younger cousin, Gabi, is a brave and determined warrior candidate who is always willing to sacrifice her life for the greater good. As a potential match for the Armored Titan, she works hard to prove to her superiors that she has what it takes.

Gabi stood out from the other candidates during the Marleyan war with the Mid-East Allied Forces when she concocted a plan to derail the enemy's armored train. She walked alone and vulnerable into the battlefield as a distraction, passing as a surviving slave, before throwing a hidden bomb onto the tracks. She could have died, but as long as it was for the greater good, she considered it a great honor.

4 Levi Ackerman

Attack On Titan: Collage Of Levi Ackerman Cleaning And Fighting

Levi Ackerman is one of the most powerful non-Titan characters of the anime. His bravery, resilience, and impressive fighting skills make him the perfect Captain for his team of scouts within the Survey Corps. Over the years, he has taken down a lot of Titans on his own, saving the lives of many innocent people in the process.

One of his most memorable moments was in Season 4, Part One, when he finally kills the Beast Titan, also known as Zeke Yeager, after many years of feuding.

3 Mikasa Ackerman

Attack On Titan: Collage Of Mikasa Young And Old

Mikasa Ackerman is one of the strongest and bravest members of the scouts, alongside Levi. Although they aren't related, they are both skilled at killing Titans and maneuvering the ODM gear. Mikasa mainly became a scout to watch over Eren, her closest friend, who tends to be reckless and impulsive in battle.

As one of the best fighters, she constantly puts her life in danger to save others, especially Eren. She always fights for what she believes is right, and she never backs down from a fight.

2 Armin Artlett

Attack On Titan: Collage Of Young And Old Armin

As a curious child, Armin often wondered about the world outside the walls and was bullied for his uncommon interests. Although Mikasa and Eren always had his back, he hated that he needed to rely on them so much.

His self-confidence grew when he joined the Survey Corps and realized that his intelligence and strategic planning made him a valuable member. Armin even stopped hiding behind his friends in battle, which showed just how brave he had become. Nowadays, he's constantly putting his life on the line to save those he loves.

1 Eren Yeager

Attack On Titan: Collage Of Young And Old Eren Yeager

Ever since that fateful day when the Titans broke through Wall Maria, destroyed the Shigashina District, killed many people and ate Eren's mother, Eren became determined to rid their world of Titans. He joined the Surveys Corps and learned everything from using the ODM gear to slicing the nape of a Titan's neck to kill it in order to make his goal a reality.

Eren has shown his bravery many times during the series, but one defining moment that also changed his life was when he jumped into a titan's mouth to save his best friend Armin from being eaten alive — and was eaten in his place.
