Atlus exploded in popularity following the release of Persona 5. The publisher had developed a loyal fan base for many of its franchises, but Persona 5’s launch was a big turning point. As Atlus celebrates the 25-year anniversary of the Persona series, its other titles also appear to be getting increased interest, with Shin Megami Tensei 5 crossing a million copies sold, and Soul Hackers 2 launching next month.

Atlus regularly holds a survey with questions related to users’ experience with its games. It also includes questions that gauge consumer interest in future products, including sequels and ports of popular games. Many fans have expressed their interest in buying remakes of older Atlus titles, as they probably want to play these classic games with modern mechanics and improvements. Now, a new Atlus survey reveals the list of games fans want to see remade the most.

Many may have guessed the topmost answers on this list. Persona 3 and the Persona 2 duology are tied for first place as the most-requested remakes from Atlus’ catalog. 78.9% of the users who filled the survey voted for these games, with Revelations: Persona coming third. Persona 4 Golden is in fourth place with 74.8% of users voting for it, although some would argue that it doesn’t need a full remake as it’s not as dated as the other titles on this list.

Beyond Persona 4 Golden, the list consists of the Devil Summoner games and both Shin Megami Tensei 4 and Shin Megami Tensei 4: Apocalypse. The Etrian Odyssey series takes the final spot, with 58% of users voting for it. Most of these games are not accessible on modern platforms, and it makes sense for fans to demand remakes of Atlus’ popular franchises. However, Persona 3’s case is perhaps the most interesting.

Unlike P4, P3 doesn’t have a definitive version. Both Persona 3 FES and Persona 3 Portable have their pros and cons, and fans seem divided on which version is better. As an example, P3P allows users to directly control their party members, but the presentation takes a massive hit, probably due to the limitations of PSP’s hardware. Atlus’ decision to port P3P, as opposed to P3 FES, to modern platforms led to more discussion on the same, further showing that it needs a remake with the best parts of both versions combined.
