The Sony PS5 game reveal event was full of new game announcements, including blockbuster reveals for games like Horizon: Forbidden West and Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Considering this, it's no surprise that some of the smaller game announcements have flown under the radar somewhat, and it seems quite a few PS5 fans don't even realize that they will be getting a free game pre-loaded on their next-generation console at launch.

It was quietly confirmed during the PS5 game reveal event that the 3D platformer Astro's Playroom will be free and pre-loaded on all PS5 consoles at launch. A sequel to the critically-acclaimed virtual reality game Astro Bot Rescue MissionAstro's Playroom appears to be combining that game with the tech demo qualities of The Playroom, a PlayStation Camera game that was free for PS4 at launch and introduced the robot characters featured in both titles.

Astro's Playroom looks to be providing traditional 3D platformer gameplay, and while it may not light the world on fire quite like Resident Evil 8 or Horizon 2, it still looks plenty fun. It being free means that no PS5 owners have an excuse not to try it out and see if it lives up to the lofty expectations set by Astro Bot Rescue Mission.

The PS5 game reveal event was exciting for 3D platformer fans because of another game as well. A new LittleBigPlanet game called Sackboy: A Big Adventure was also confirmed at the event, and it looks like a LittleBigPlanet riff on Super Mario 3D World. It's unclear when PS5 owners can get their hands on Sackboy: A Big Adventure, but they will at least have Astro's Playroom to satiate their 3D platformer needs at launch.

In the meantime, Astro's Playroom isn't the only PS5 game shown at the reveal event that will likely be available for the console at launch. It seems like most of the games shown with a "holiday 2020" release window will be launch titles, or close enough that they may as well be, and so fans should be able to play things like Godfall and Spider-Man: Miles Morales before the year is out.

More on the PS5 launch titles and Astro's Playroom should come to light in the months leading up to the next-generation console's release.

Astro's Playroom is in development exclusively for PlayStation 5.
