First revealed on the official PlayStation website, players can look forward to over 150 iconic characters from PlayStation's 30-year history without any need to worry about microtransactions in Astro Bot. According to the listing, Astro Bot will include a variety of unique features such as galactic exploration of over 50 planets, gigantic bosses spread across 80 levels, and rescue missions to save more than 150 VIP Bots based on some of the most popular and iconic PlayStation characters of all time. Fans have already gotten a sneak peek at some of these VIP Bots, including robot NPCs resembling Kratos from God of War and Nathan Drake from Uncharted, among others. Audiences were also happy to see the lack of microtransactions on the official PlayStation game listing, with many celebrating the promise of a vibrant 3D platforming game with no need for additional in-game purchases.

Astro Bot is set to release for PS5 on Friday, September 6 and will feature both new and familiar gameplay mechanics. The game will see the heroic little robot Astro venturing across colorful planets as he tries to find his lost friends and rebuild his mothership. Players will get to enjoy similar mechanics introduced in Astro's Playroom while also discovering new abilities like froggy boxing gloves and a giant Astro-shaped sponge. Environments will include underwater cities, active volcanoes, sky gardens, creepy graveyards, and more, giving players a diverse array of platforming elements to traverse in Astro Bot.
