Astral Chain is an action-adventure, hack and slash video game that dropped on the Nintendo Switch in August 2019. It was developed by PlatinumGames and published by Nintendo themselves. The game follows the Neuron special police task force as they protect their dystopian world, the Ark, from Chimeras, interdimensional creatures. The player plays as one of the twin recruits who uses an X-Baton as a weapon (that can transform into a Baton, Blaster, or Gladius) and handles a Legion, a tamed Chimera (that has five types: Sword, Arrow, Arm, Beast, and Axe).
In the game, the player is allowed to customize their appearance too. They can change their hair, eyes, and skin, among other things such as clothing and accessories. When it comes to accessories, there are items for the head, the eyes, the mouth, the ears, and the face.
10 The Sunglasses Eye Accessory
Everyone knows the easiest and fastest way to become a cool guy is by putting on a pair of sunglasses.
The Sunglasses eye accessory is unlocked in File 8, titled "Peace." The player must complete the case "Billy's Past." The NPC, Billy, is at the north end of Grand Avenue 3F. They start the mission by talking to him. The player must be stealthy and follow someone as well as beat up a couple of gangs of Hermits. After that, Billy gives them the Sunglasses.
9 The Goggles Eye Accessory
Usually, people use goggles to protect their eyes from glare, dust, or water. The protagonist wears them for style though.
The Goggles eye accessory is unlocked in File 4, titled "Siege." It is located inside the Ark Mall. From the fourth floor, the player must go down the stairs and then use the Beast Legion or Chain Jump to traverse the gaps. Following this, if they open the metal barrier in their way with the Arm Legion then they will be rewarded with a chest containing the Goggles.
8 The Perching Raven Headwear
The player has a Duty Rank, which is the leveling system. It goes up by doing well in the game's chapters. The better they do, the more experience points earned.
As the player ranks up, they unlock pieces of headwear, such as the Police Cap. The Lappy Cap is unlocked when reaching the OFFICER+ rank and Marie's Cap is unlocked when reaching the EXPERT rank. But the best one is the Perching Raven Headwear, unlocked at SPECIALIST+ rank.
7 The Gas Mask Mouth Accessory
In real life, a gas mask protects someone from poisonous gas. In the game, however, it just looks cool. The Gas Mask mouth accessory is unlocked in File 5, titled "Accord."
File 5 begins with the player visiting Akira Howard in the ARI. Then, an investigation starts in the Harmony Square subway. Here in the subway, while descending the escalator, a police officer will give the Gask Mask to them.
6 The Cat-Eared Headband Headwear
At each level in the game, there are cats to be found (and saved). These rescues are referred to as "Feline Friend" orders. In File 12, titled "Rebirth," there are four cats to be found. Finding all of them means completing the order; completing the order means unlocking the Cat-Eared Headband headwear.
At the beginning of File 12's Case R1-6, a cat is lying in a cardboard box behind the player. At the start of File 12's Case R2-2, a cat is hiding behind some computer terminals near the purple room. While doing File 12's Case R2-8, they will find the cat under a black barrel at the bottom of the ladder near the metal support structure on the rooftop. During File 12's Case R2-B2, the player will find the cat cowering behind a dumpster beside a staircase after using the Arm Legion.
5 The Lazy Cat Cap Headwear
There are lots of Feline Friend orders in the game, and therefore many cats to be discovered. In fact, there are 15. But after getting them all, the player will unlock the Lazy Cat Cap headwear.
For reference, there is a cat in the "Forecast" section of File 1, "Sortie" section of File 2, "Assault" section of File 3, "Infiltration" section of File 4, "Uproar" section of File 5, "Chaos" section of File 6, "Warfare" section of File 7, "Restoration" section of File 8, "Alert" section of File 9, "Fugitives" section of File 10, and "Uprising" section of File 11. Besides these 11 cats, there a four more in File 12. After they find all 15 cats, the player can unlock the Lazy Cat Cap by speaking to Marie at the Neuron HQ because they are a "Phenomenal Feline Friend."
4 The Skull Holomask
There are a few holomasks in the game for unlocking and one of these is the Skull Holomask.
In File 3, titled "Link", the player discovers more about the Neuron HQ, and meets some new characters, and learns about further upgrading possibilities. In the second section of this level though, there is a secret shop. Right at the start, past the alleyway, there is a garage door wall that is actually fake (holographic). If the player runs through, they will find a Hermit NPC selling the Skull Holomask for 88,000 moneys.
3 The Hermit Holomask
Besides the Skull Holomask, Cat Holomask, Dog Holomask, and Lappy Holomask, there is the Hermit Holomask.
While the player may purchase the Skull Holomask from the Hermit NPC located in the secret shop (behind the holographic wall) in the second section of File 3, they may also purchase the Hermit Holomask. It will run them 88,000 moneys.
2 The Cardboard Box Faceguard
Sometimes the protagonist gets shy and is not feeling themselves so they look for a paper bag to put over their head to hide their face but they can only find a cardboard box.
The player unlocks the Cardboard Box faceguard in File 6, titled "Complicit." During the "Tracking Douglas" case, they will come across a warehouse that they enter forcibly with the Arm Legion. After defeating some Aberrations, there will be a corridor with Red Matter as well as a chest containing the Cardboard Box.
1 The Earring Ear Accessory
Olive Espinosa is a classy lady. This is based solely on the fact that she wearing a gold hoop earring (just one). And the player can too.
In File 5, they proceed with an investigation that leads them into the Harmony Square subway. At the back of a subway car full of laser generators close to where the player helps out Alicia, they will find the Earring.
