Ubisoft confirms that Assassin's Creed Valhalla will use the Xbox Series X Smart Delivery feature when it releases in holiday 2020. In February, CD Projekt RED also confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 would use Xbox Series X Smart Delivery, letting fans get a free upgrade.

The Assassin's Creed Valhalla product listing on Amazon confirms that the game will use Smart Delivery on Xbox Series X. This allows players to buy the game once and play it on Xbox One or Xbox Series X "when the both the console and that version of Assassin's Creed Valhalla are available." The wording of this description does make it sound like Assassin's Creed Valhalla may not be a launch title and that it could be available after the Xbox Series X release date, though this has not been confirmed.

If Assassin's Creed Valhalla supports Xbox Series X Smart Delivery, then it is much more likely that Ubisoft's other, in-development titles will also use it. The developer has confirmed plans to bring Watch Dogs Legion to next-gen consoles, though the game has been delayed with no new release date announced.

Fans will likely be very happy to hear that Assassin's Creed Valhalla, and potentially Watch Dogs Legion, will use Smart Delivery because of how big they are. Assassin's Creed Valhalla will feature Viking battles, raids, and assaults, and there will also be stronghold building. This could take players hours to get through and many won't want to leave that behind just because they are moving from Xbox One to Xbox Series X. Features like Smart Delivery allow players to easily take that with them and enjoy the game's better graphics and loading times on the new console.

The Xbox team may have partnered with several other game developers for Smart Delivery though these haven't been announced. However, Xbox has just confirmed that there will be an Xbox Series X gameplay reveal taking place next week and Assassin's Creed Valhalla will be one of the games there.

The event, which will not feature any games from Xbox Game Studios developers, would be a good place for Xbox to show just how many companies are using Smart Delivery. Features like Smart Delivery and Quick Resume may not be the most exciting things about the Xbox Series X, but they could prompt more gamers to buy the console.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is set to release during the 2020 holidays for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
