Despite there being no definite release date for Assassin's Creed Valhalla, formerly thought to be Assassin's Creed Ragnarok, can't get here fast enough for some players. People are breaking down everything revealed so far, from gameplay to Valhalla and the "leaked" Ragnarok title.

Little is known about the gameplay for Assassin's Creed Valhalla, although it can be assumed that a good portion of it will follow the regular Assassin's Creed gameplay format. Players can most likely expect plenty of stealth kill opportunities, dual wielding, vantage points, and, of course, ship combat.

Players are analyzing how Assassin's Creed Valhalla will differ from Assassin's Creed Odyssey, as several mechanics will likely be carried over, and it is unknown which ones will be dropped entirely. While the Spartan Kick will probably be gone forever, it will be replaced by something that will hopefully feature prominently in the game: flyting. According to one post on Twitter, flyting will be one of the features included in the game.

For those wondering exactly what flyting is, it can be thought of as a much older Nordic/English/Scottish precursor to the modern rap battle.

More specifically, flyting was a contest wherein two combatants would engage in extensive, poetic verbal abuse of each other, with insults ranging from the personal and extremely witty, to regular toilet humor. The first recorded instance of poop used is found in one of the most famous flyting matches in history. Since Valhalla will be taking place during flyting's peak period, there is a chance it will be a regular feature.

Of course, nothing is certain, and the flyting may feature only into a small part of Valhalla's story, perhaps as a cutscene and nothing more. After all, it is unlikely that Valhalla's extremely long list of credits includes several, or even one, dedicated flyte writer, as awesome as that would be.

But if flyting was worked into the game as a regular feature, it would not be out of place, since a flyting match could sometimes settle what would otherwise be a physical fight, or gain clout in a political court. Hopefully when the Valhalla gameplay trailer drops next week, it will showcase an actual flyting mechanic to go along with the fighting mechanics.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla will release in holiday season of 2020 for PS4, Xbox One, Stadia, and PC, as well as for PS5 and Xbox Series X when those consoles release.
