In celebration of the occasion, Ubisoft has added a hilarious April Fools' Day cosmetic to Assassin's Creed Valhalla. The new addition provides an interesting new way for players to experience the Viking expansion into the British Isles in Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

With the game now over two years old, the amount of post-launch support and DLC Assassin's Creed Valhalla has received has been unusual for the franchise. Previously, the games had mostly been released on a one-year schedule, meaning that support was dropped as soon as the next release came out. Ubisoft has been taking its time with the next iteration of Assassin's Creed, so it makes sense that it would keep the old game alive as long as possible.

The addition to the game was noticed by Redditor Alert_Chart, who posted that they'd receive a Rabbid head as a cosmetic to use in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. The Rabbids are another key franchise for Ubisoft, so it's fun to see them cross over, even as a joke. The update comes completely free to the game, so players won't have to pay to get their hands on this either. It was presumed that Assassin's Creed Valhalla has had its final update, but it seems that Ubisoft isn't done yet, even with Assassin's Creed Mirage on the way later this year.

In years gone by, gamers have been fooled by many an April Fools' joke at the hands of video game developers. Just last year, Among Us added a Horse Mode for April Fools' Day. It's a tradition that has spawned many hilarious announcements, many of which gamers wish were actually real. Luckily, this Rabbids cosmetic is real, and is available now in-game. However, it's unknown if it's a limited-time cosmetic, so players wanting to use it in-game should grab it while it's there. It remains to be seen if Ubisoft has anything else up its sleeve for April Fools' Day, but gamers don't have long to wait now.

Gamers are waiting patiently to discover how the future of the Assassin's Creed franchise will play out. The upcoming Assassin's Creed Mirage promises to return the series to its roots, a decision which will please gamers who didn't love the newer games' RPG mechanics. Ubisoft is yet to reveal any gameplay from the title, leaving some concerned that the game will be pushed beyond its provisional 2023 release date. Beyond Assassin's Creed Mirage, Ubisoft has also reaffirmed its long-term commitment to the franchise by confirming three more games, with Assassins' Creed Red, Jade, and Hexe all on the way in the upcoming years.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
