Ubisoft has announced that Assassin's Creed Valhalla will be receiving a patch to iron out some small bugs in the game. The recent release of Assassin's Creed Valhalla on Steam has reignited interest in the title.

First released in 2020, Assassin's Creed Valhalla is the most recent entry into Ubisoft's long-running stealth franchise. However, upon release, the game faced criticism, with many fans tired of the RPG formula that had seen recent entries into the franchise massively grow in scale. Now over two years old, Assassin's Creed Valhalla represents the longest wait between games in the franchise's history. Many fans are hoping the wait has been to rethink the direction of the franchise, with plenty still debating if future Assassin's Creed titles should contain RPG elements. At the moment the fan base is split, making it an unenviable task for Ubisoft to handle.

The news comes directly from Ubisoft, with Assassin's Creed Valhalla's 1.7.0 update planned for release on February 21 across all supported platforms. The change log itself is relatively small, with only small bug fixes and improvements made. However, the update does fix some issues with Ubisoft's Helix Credits currency not appearing correctly, so the update may have been necessary if it was affecting player purchases. The previous major update for the game was Assassin's Creed Valhalla's Last Chapter update, which brought a conclusive end to Eivor's story, however, reception for this particular DLC was lukewarm at best. Despite Assassin's Creed Valhalla's abundance of post-launch support, unfortunately, much of it has received a similar reception to The Last Chapter.

The news of a new update for the game may come as a surprise to many players. Assassin's Creed Valhalla recently reached the end of its post-launch roadmap, with no more new content planned in the future for the title after multiple large DLC packs. However, Ubisoft clearly feels the update is important enough to push out to players. The change log doesn't state if this is the final update for the game, so there may be more small bug fixes on the way in the future.

Despite the current gap between games, there's a lot to look forward to for fans of the Assassin's Creed franchise. Anticipation continues to build over Assassin's Creed Mirage with the game's return to stealthy gameplay, as well as the reveal of many of the franchise's future games. Currently, Assassin's Creed Red, Assassin's Creed Jade, Assassin's Creed Nexus, and Assassin's Creed Hexe are all announced, each with their own unique gameplay focus. While not much is known about each of these titles, it's still reassuring for fans to know that Ubisoft is committed to the long-term future of the series.
