Assassin's Creed Valhalla is receiving a new update that will focus on fixing a significant number of bugs affecting the game's quests, sandbox, visuals, and UI. Along with bringing Assassin's Creed Valhalla up to version 1.5.3, the update includes an ax and shield in the free Bifrost Bundle.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is the latest in the long-running Assassin's Creed series of open-world stealth games developed by Ubisoft. The game has enjoyed a positive reception from fans and critics thanks to its incredibly detailed open-world rendition of Dark Ages England and Norway, populated with loads of activities in typical Ubisoft fashion. Assassin's Creed games take place during different points in history around the globe, and the focus on Viking culture and Norse mythology in Valhalla has been considered a particularly intriguing setting for the series. In an effort to continue improving the game post-launch, Ubisoft has released a steady stream of updates aimed at quality-of-life additions and bug fixes.

Update 1.5.3 features numerous bug fixes for the latest expansion, Dawn of Ragnarok. Many of the changes resolve quest progression issues, so players stuck on quests such as Gift to the God and The Vault of the Ancients or world events such as Not Today, Jotun should be able to complete these now. Additionally, various incorrect AI behaviors have been fixed, along with resurrected NPCs not holding any weapons when returning to their original location. Some adjustments to the Valkyrie Arena include a fix for players getting stuck underground and finisher animations not working properly.

As for base game changes to Assassin's Creed Valhalla, the issue of grass and foliage disappearing as players approach has been fixed. Bugs related to the loadout feature being unavailable after traveling to Svartalfheim and being unavailable in the Mythical Worlds have been squashed. Various issues with Mastery Challenges have been addressed, particularly the long loading times when loading or exiting challenges and Level Scaling automatically switching to Harder when undertaking a Mastery Challenge. In the graphics department, an issue with Eivor entering a T-pose has been fixed, clipping issues have been resolved, and various unspecified graphics, texture, animation, and lighting issues have been fixed.

The update will deploy on June 28 and will be between 1.2 to 8.8 GB in size depending on the platform. The Bifrost Bundle can be claimed for free from the Animus store from June 28 to July 26 and includes the Shimmering Shield and iridescent Axe. These mostly bug-fixing updates are an important step between now and Ubisoft's planned final chapter for Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
