It's not "new video game season" without some leaks from Ubisoft, and prior to its Ubisoft Forward presentation, there's been plenty. It has promised that there are surprises in store regardless, but fans have preemptively seen everything from Far Cry 6 to Assassin's Creed Valhalla's release date. Assassin's Creed Italian Instagram accidentally posted a short clip yesterday, something that more likely meant to be posted after today's event, and revealed the game's current-gen release date as November 17, 2020.

Ubisoft Forward has given players an official glimpse at the game and its gameplay now, with Ubisoft Forward showing much of what fans can expect. This includes when they can play it, as Assassin's Creed Valhalla officially releases on November 17, 2020, for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.

The big question is the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game. Ubisoft states that Assassin's Creed Valhalla will be able the day next-gen consoles launch, and while neither has yet taken that plunge, it's likely to be roughly in the same time period. It may be a couple of weeks, but at the very least, fans can start and upgrade consoles.

At the very least, fans know when they'll be able to first play Assassin's Creed Valhalla on current-gen hardware. It is worth noting that fans who want to play on next-gen consoles but can't wait can pick up an Xbox One version of the game and upgrade to Xbox Series X with Microsoft's Smart Delivery. This should go a long way in bettering the experience of the game, and it's likely PS4-PS5 will support something similar, although that has not been confirmed yet.

Fall and Holiday 2020 is fast-approaching as well. On November 17, just four months from now, fans will finally be able to dive into the next entry of the long-running franchise. More games, even Cyberpunk 2077 which releases November 19, will also be eating at gamers' wallets, while the PS5 and Xbox Series X will be releasing some time in the same time span. It's a good time to start saving.
