An extended trailer for Assassin's Creed Valhalla was released earlier today with unbelievably gorgeous graphics. The latest addition to the long-running Ubisoft series will release sometime during the 2020 holiday season. Assassin's Creed Valhalla will release on the new PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, PS4, and Xbox One as well as Stadia. PC players will also be happy to have an exclusive release on the Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Store, Google Stadia, and Uplay+.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla will take place around ninth-century Europe and boasts of a potentially bigger map than gamers have seen. The game follows Eivor, a Viking who leads his people out of Norway into the broken kingdoms of England and the notorious Saxons. "Players must carve out a new future for their clan," the official Ubisoft announcement states. "...reliving the ruthless fighting style of Viking warriors with a revamped combat system that includes the ability to dual-wield weapons against a greater variety of enemies than ever before."

The game will launch for both PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X, whose technological specs appear to be very similar. Valhalla will also release on current consoles; however, it's unclear whether the quality will be up to snuff for the impressive game. After the incredible cinematic trailer, next-gen consoles may be the best option, but it all depends on gameplay. Players would have seen demos of gameplay at San Diego Comic-Con, but it looks like that is no longer in the cards. Perhaps it'll appear at the Xbox Series X event on May 7th.

It is likely that Ubisoft was set to announce the game around San Diego Comic-Con, however, the massive event has been canceledAssassin's Creed Valhalla is being produced by Ubisoft Montreal who formerly developed the popular Assassin's Creed Black Flag game and showed up to the 2013 Comic-Con in a real-life pirate ship. Players boarded the pirate ship and were shown live demos of the game in the ship's hull. The game's Viking-themed gameplay will likely see open-sea battles, and Ubisoft probably would have brought the ship back to Comic-Con. However, what Ubisoft was planning is ultimately unknown, but it clearly would have been epic.

Whether ship battles will be as prevalent as they were in Black Flag remains to be seen, but fans of the series can get excited for the return of the Hidden Blade. Many fans have pointed out that Eivor's blade appears to be on top of his wrist instead of classically underneath it. There will likely be even more surprises to come for the latest addition to Assasin's Creed franchise.
