Assassin's Creed Valhalla boasts hundreds of hours of content, whether exploring regions with power-ranking intensifiers or claiming settlements in sweeping questlines. Assassin's Creed Valhalla launched in 2020, and a new update may celebrate fans' commitment to the game's progression system.

Since the game's release, Assassin's Creed Valhalla has launched downloadable content with the inclusion of Ireland and the Children of Danu in Wrath of the Druids. Now, the most recently announced DLC expansion pack, The Siege of Paris, is set to establish a new location and lore to the game. However, fans excited for updates to Assassin's Creed Valhalla's base game may rejoice as Ubisoft has announced a free update arriving soon.

Community manager Dan St. Germain narrates an informative trailer for the update and details what players can expect. Assassin's Creed Valhalla's latest update brings an elaborate Mastery Challenge, which is tied into the narrative through Battle Meditation. Players will have access to three individual trials through different shrines in England, with each of the update's shrine challenges composing a tiered challenge mode that tests players' expertise in melee combat, ranged combat, and stealth.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla's Mastery Challenge aims to be a formidable test for fans. Trials are accomplished with locked equipment loadouts that players cannot customize. Goal and difficulty modifiers are also included, such as bonus score points toward an objective for stealing all artifacts or remaining anonymous during the Trial of the Raven. The total score awarded results in a bronze, silver, or gold medal that players can exchange for exclusive rewards.

Rewards claimed from medal transactions include weapons, tattoo cosmetics, or decorations that appear in the player's settlement. Interestingly, players must have a power level of 221 to unlock and access the Mastery Challenge. This suggests what players may expect for the Mastery Challenge's difficulty. But having a power level threshold also appears to be a way of influencing players to grind Assassin's CreedValhalla, or at least return to the game before the update launches if they are not already at the requisite level.

A "mythical mystery" is also teased to tie the challenge mode into Assassin's Creed Valhalla's narrative. Players eagerly waiting to test their skills and earn new rewards do not have to wait long, as Assassin's Creed Valhalla's Mastery Challenge is scheduled to arrive as a free update on Tuesday, June 15.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
