Magnus Bruun just can't stay away from the Viking Age. The Last Kingdom actor recently announced he will be playing Male Eivor in Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

Bruun's announcement came on Twitter just after Ubisoft released a trailer and release window for the upcoming game. Assassin's Creed Valhalla is getting a lot of hype and updates right now, and players are excited for how the franchise will follow up its most recent game, Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

The Danish actor is best known for displaying his iconic red beard on the historical drama The Last Kingdom as Cnut, a powerful Scandinavian warlord. Bruun seems to be embracing his Viking type-cast and how he can't "seem to get enough" of the historical warriors. Although the game is focused on the Viking age, Ubisoft confirmed that the "present-day journey" will continue in Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

Like with Assassin's Creed Odyssey, this game will give players the option to choose a male or female protagonist. However, the information and images that Ubisoft has released so far seem to focus on the male version of Eivor, and not much is known about the female protagonist. Bruun has been confirmed as the male voice, and it remains to be seen what voice actor Ubisoft has cast to voice the female Eivor. There's still a lot of information about the entire game that's yet to be released, but what has come out so far looks promising.

The Last Kingdom is also about Vikings, but it's not clear yet whether these fierce Scandinavian warriors will be portrayed the same way in Assassin's Creed Valhalla as they have been onscreen. The show boasts an impressive cast of characters in addition to Bruun's Cnut. Bruun's character is imposing and ferocious, and it'll be interesting to see if he will translate that acting presence into Eivor.

There are a lot of high hopes for Assassin's Creed Valhalla to really stand out as a game and delve into both the history of the Assassins and the mythology of the Viking world. Magnus Bruun has experience playing a Viking character, and players can hope that he'll bring the character of Eivor justice. Hopefully Assassin's Creed Valhalla will do justice to this  illustrious franchise as well.
