An in-depth trailer for Assassin's Creed Valhalla premiered today during the company's big livestream event of the year, Ubisoft Forward. Plenty of new information was given at the event, including additional gameplay and story details, as well as Valhalla's release date.

In Assassin's Creed Valhalla, fans play as protagonist Eivor, a Viking warrior leading his or her people to glory, adventuring through England during its Dark Ages. Valhalla's world is rooted in Norse mythology, and much of the game builds off of prior titles, such as 2018's Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

Exploration is a huge part of the game, featuring a tremendous open world of forests, rolling hills, cities, and temples. Similar to previous games, much of it is spent sailing the ocean, as a player's crew assists them in raiding settlements and villages. All of the riches earned through pillaging can be used to help further grow and develop your settlement, allowing you to upgrade to new and stronger tools and additional settlers.

The title has the biggest variety of enemies out of any other Assassin's Creed game, with each type playing differently from the rest. Some enemies are more reliant on their comrades, while others might use nearby objects to their advantage. This necessitates the player to really study their enemies' patterns and discover their weaknesses. In Valhalla, players utilize various Viking weapons such as battle-axes, throwing knives, harpoons, and more. The game also introduces a revamped stealth system.

Valhalla also allows for more customization options and changing your fighting style with any combination of weapons, giving the option to dual-wield any weapons, including shields. One of the last features of the game introduced were assaults, where the player can command their Viking army to assault giant fortresses in enormous battles, making for a truly epic spectacle.

At the end of the trailer, Ubisoft announced that Valhalla will release this on November 17 for current-gen consoles, with the title releasing on next-gen consoles at a later date. Pre-orders for Assassin's Creed: Valhalla are now available.

Assassin's Creed: Valhalla releases on November 17, 2020 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC and Google Stadia. It is also coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X at a later date.
