Forgotten Saga is a free game mode in Assassin's Creed Valhalla in which players delve into Niflheim, the world of the dead. While it is not particularly difficult to access this mode, there are a couple prerequisites that fans must fulfill in order to unlock it. This guide has full details on those prerequisites and will help players get started with Assassin's Creed Valhalla's Forgotten Sage game mode.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla: How to Start Forgotten Saga

In order to access Forgotten Saga, players must first travel to Asgard in Assassin's Creed Valhalla at least once. For full clarity, that area can be entered upon reaching Settlement Level 3 and constructing the Seer's Hut in Ravensthorpe at Valka's behest. When that has been done, players should collect the plant that Valka requests, as part of the In Dreams quest, and then drink the resulting potion to be transported to Asgard.

After traveling to Asgard, players should find that they have a quest called "A Gift from the Otherworld" in their logs. Indeed, this is the quest that will lead fans to Niflheim, and it begins by instructing them to speak with a new craftsman known as Everold. Players can find this character at the quest waypoint that appears within Ravensthorpe, and talking to him will trigger a cutscene that result in the construction of a new workshop.

With Everold's Workshop built, players should enter the establishment and interact with the potion that is sitting on a barrel inside. This action will cause another cutscene to play, and fans will wake up at Odin's Camp upon its conclusion. Players should now simply jump from the nearby ledge and get ready to begin their first run of AC Valhalla's Forgotten Saga game mode.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla: What is Forgotten Saga

For those fans that would like to know more about Forgotten Saga before jumping in, it is a roguelite game mode. This means that players will be sent back to the beginning of Niflheim every time that they die, and they must work to complete the entirety of the area in one go. There are persistent upgrades to be purchased between attempts, though, which will make it easier to reach the end.

With respect to the rewards that can be earned by engaging with Forgotten Saga, the currency that is collected in Niflheim can be used to purchase new mounts, raven skins, and tattoos in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. There is also a unique gear set to be obtained by completing the mode in its entirety, providing even more incentive to best Hel and her forces.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
