Upon completion of the first mission in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, players open up the option to pursue the Family Matters quest and A Seer's Solace. Both will need to be completed before more of the rest of the game will open up, and the former can't be completed without the latter.
Both of these missions help lay the groundwork for the rest of Assassin's Creed Valhalla and introduce some of the game's mechanics. For those players looking to complete this mission, this guide is here to help.
Finding Gunnar the Blacksmith
The main goal for this mission is to reconnect with Eivor's friend, Gunnar. As this character is the blacksmith for Eivor's clan, he can be found at the blacksmith shop which will be placed on a players map at the beginning of the quest. What makes this a bit difficult is the fact that the game floods the screen with potential conversations with fellow Vikings. Fortunately, none of these conversations contain any of Assassin's Creed Valhalla's important decisions.
Some of these help establish in-game mechanics such as the conversation with Alvis, a member of the clan who will teach players the art of Flyting and prepare them for future challenges in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. These are all optional, however, and players can head from the docks to the east and north until they come across Gunnar.
A quick conversation with Gunnar prompts the player to upgrade their father's axe. Doing so is free of cost on this occasion and players can complete the transaction then and there. With the axe upgraded, players can either continue to meet the rest of the clan or approach Randvi who is guarding the door to the Longhouse near the docks. Randvi, one of the romanceable characters in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, will inform the player they cannot enter the Longhouse until they complete A Seer's Solace.
How to Complete A Seer's Solace
The next step requires players leave the Viking village and explore Assassin's Creed Valhalla's Norway. Grab a horse at the entrance of the northern road and follow the path that leads west. This will carry players up the nearby mountain to Valka's hut. She is the Seer for this clan and Eivor requires a visit with this character in order to clear their mind. Players will pass through Sjaleng Lookout before the road turns north and ends at Valka's hut.
Entering this building begins the conversation that Eivor has been looking for as well as opens up a dream level. In this plain, players need only follow the wolf and the dark figure in order to return to reality. This completes A Seer's Solace and will allow players to return to the village and Randvi to conclude these missions.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
